Obituary

Roger Dee Hopp, age 84, died on Dec. 19 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Roger was born Dec. 4 1934 to Howard and Esther (Slee) Hopp in Ft. Madison, IA. He graduated from Ft. Madison High School in 1953. Roger married Janet Holmes on July 28 1956. They later moved to Grand Forks, ND and then to Fargo in 1969.

Roger worked for several building contractors and designers doing painting and wallpapering until he took over his father’s furniture refinishing business in Fargo. After his retirement he continued to work as a maintenance man for the Scandia Hotel.

Roger loved spending time with his family camping and fishing. He and Janet bowled on a couples league for many years and he was quite a good bowler. Roger also enjoyed golfing and in the past few years he loved to spend time on the computer. Roger was an excellent cook and he loved to collect recipes. He spent hours in the kitchen canning vegetables from his garden and making homemade jelly and jams.

Roger is survived by his wife Janet and four children, Crystal Rubertus (Don) Mapleton ND, Russ Hopp (Teresa) Sioux Falls SD, Barb Fischer (Ron) Sabin MN and Amy Schroeder Fargo; two brothers Keith (Ann) Hopp Fargo, Kenny (Carol) Hopp Fargo; and a sister Cindy Abernathy (Ron) Wentzville MO; 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and mother.

A private gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date.

A special Thank you to Dr. Alzoubi, the Roger Maris Cancer Center, Sanford Health, Bethany Nursing Home and Hospice of the RRV for all of their great care.
