Rosamond (Ro) Kelty, age 83, died Wednesday, February 4, 2004 in Bethany Homes, Fargo. Rosamond (Ro) Kelty, affectionately known as Honey by her family, was born December 29, 1920 in Perham, Minnesota, the daughter of Charles and Gertrude (Hart) Kelty. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Waubun, MN, then to Mahnomen, MN, and Detroit Lakes, MN. She graduated from Detroit Lakes High School in 1938. After high school, she attended Moorhead State University for one year, and St. Scholastica College in Duluth, MN for one year. She received her degree from the University of Portland, Portland, Oregon. She joined the Women?s Army Auxiliary Corp during World War II and served in the European Theatre of Operations. After the war, she lived in New York where she worked for the United Nations and later lived in Washington, D.C. where she worked in the Pentagon. She joined the Civil Service and worked with the Army Service Clubs around the world, serving in Korea, Germany, Italy, Okinawa, and Fairbanks, Alaska. She retired in 1984 and moved to Fargo. She was a charter member of the Women?s National Memorial and her military uniform is on permanent display at the Women?s National Memorial in Arlington National Cemetery. Ro is survived by her nieces and nephews: J. Dennis Nelson, Valley City, ND, Gregory C. (Jane) Nelson, Cormorant Lake, Lake Park, MN, Colleen Fischer, Minneapolis, MN, Mary Beth (Flip) Rush, White Bear Lake, MN and Timothy (Laura) Neitzke, Perham, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters, Jane Corrine Nelson and Mary Ann Neitzke. The prayer service will be Friday at 6 p.m. in Boulger Funeral Home with visitation from 4-6 p.m. on Friday in Boulger Funeral Home and Saturday in the church one hour before the funeral service. The funeral will be Saturday at 12 noon in St. Mary?s Cathedral. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Wadena, MN. Arrangements are with Boulger Funeral Home.
