Roy passed away on Wednesday, September 8, 2004, at the Hillsboro Medical Center Nursing Home at the age of 86. Roy Satrom was born on September 11, 1917, near Colgate, North Dakota, the son of Olaf and Mina (Olstad) Satrom. He grew up in this area and attended Colgate School. After his schooling he began working on the family farm by Colgate. Roy was united in marriage to Ruth Jondahl on September 30, 1944, in Fargo, North Dakota. They purchased a farm near Grandin where they made their home. Roy and Ruth lived their entire lives on the family farm. They worked side by side for many years together on their grain and dairy farm. They loved the farm and the raising of their children. Roy was active in the community, serving on the Grandin School Board, the Kelso Township Board, and was a member of Our Savior?s Lutheran Church in Hillsboro. Roy is survived by his children, Curtis Satrom of Grandin; Corrine Bergee of College Station, Texas; Sharon (Eugene) Krueger of Seattle, Washington; Sandra Satrom of Grandin; Richard Satrom of Grandin; and Mary (Carl) Lime of St. Augustine, Florida; and his grandchildren, Tineke Bright, Sarah Bergee, Shannon Dindia, Melanie Webb, Amber Fox, Ryan Lime, and Dana Lime; and his great grandchildren, Jordan, Justin, Haylen Bright; Preston and Payton Dindia, McKenzie Fox, and Garand and Colton Webb. He is also survived by his brothers, Hilbert Satrom of Galesburg, North Dakota; Gordon (Nola) Satrom of Page, North Dakota, Lester (Clarice) Satrom of Grandin; Charles (Darlene) Satrom of Page; and his sisters, Margaret Ruddy of Washington; and Eldice Tysdal of Arthur, North Dakota. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth; five brothers; and one sister.
