Ruth Marie (Flewell) Reimers, of Horace, ND passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at Essentia Health in Fargo. Ruth Marie Flewell was born on June 28, 1949, in St. Luke’s Hospital in Fargo, ND to Robert Lee and Mary Caroline (Hammer) Flewell. She attended twelve different schools through her twelve years of schooling, in both Fargo, ND and Des Moines, IA. Ruth was among the first graduating class of South High School in Fargo in 1968. She worked at the Cass County Abstract Company from 1967-1978 while she was in high school and continued working there after high school and became a licensed abstractor, the first one to take the abstractors test. She then worked at Dawson Watson Insurance Company from 1978-1982, as a receptionist. From 1982-1985 she was an appointment secretary for thirteen doctors at The Psychiatric Associates. From 1987-2000, she was employed at Anderson and Bottrell Law Firm as a receptionist/secretary. From 2001 until her retirement in 2011, she worked at Ohnstad Twichell Law Firm in West Fargo in accounts payable and as a receptionist. James “Jim” Preston Reimers and Ruth Marie Flewell were married on July 10, 1981 and divorced in 1994 and remarried on December 2, 2010. Ruth loved to scrapbook, travel, especially hiking in the state parks in Minnesota and North Dakota. She also liked jewelry, watching movies, and eating chocolate. She was privileged to fly with Jim in their Piper Tri-Pacer Airplane, a Blanik Glider, and a Cessna 180 Airplane and participated in great adventures flying to wilderness areas in Montana, Idaho, Washington, Orcas Island, Alaska, and Minnesota. Ruth enjoyed traveling to exotic places, with Jim, to Iceland, Switzerland, France, Austria, Liechtenstein, West Germany, East Germany (before the wall came down). They also traveled to Norway, China and Cancun, Mexico. She also visited Grand Cayman Island, B.W.I., her favorite place in the world, where she loved to snorkel in the turquoise waters, with her friend, Lorr Evert. She visited New Zealand, Australia and Fiji with her cousin, Janet and her husband, Ted Paterson to visit her cousin, Jay Handel. She is survived by her husband, James Reimers; three sisters, Esther Grossman of Fargo, ND; Neomie Morris, of Moorhead, MN; Mary (Mark) Jensen of Maricopa, AZ; 11 nieces and nephews; 18 great-nieces and nephews; 8 great-great-nephews; and 6 great-great-nieces. She is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Mary Flewell; and her brother, Paul Flewell. Thank you, Jim, for all the adventures of my life. You were a good friend and the love of my life. There will be a memorial service at 3:00 PM on Monday, February 22, 2021 at Boulger Funeral Home and Celebration of Life Center, Fargo with a visitation one hour prior. The service will be livestreamed on the funeral home’s website.

  5. I have known Ruth since the 70’s. She was such a special & thoughtful person and loved to send cards for every occasion. She always had a smile on her face and was a fun and caring friend. She will truly be missed.

    My deepest condolences to each of us who grieve our shocking loss from Ruth’s sudden passing February 16/21 at a young age of 71yr.

    Gratefully for Ruth having enriched our lives, we can take comfort knowing we can turn to each other to help us through these difficult days.
