Sandra Kosienski passed away on August 16, 2005 at her home under the care of her loving family and Hospice of the RRV. Sandy was born on August 23, 1942 to Frederick and Clara (Bennett) Long in Canandaigua, New York. She grew up in upstate New York and graduated from Bloomfield Central School in 1960. After high school Sandy went to Rochester State Hospital School of Nursing and graduated in June 1963 and became a Registered Nurse. Sandy proudly served her country in the United States Army Nurse Corp from October 1964 to August 1966. Sandy and Ken were married in Ovid, NY on February 13, 1966. After Sandy?s discharge, Ken and Sandy made their home in New Jersey where they started their family and Sandy worked as a Registered Nurse. In 1970 they moved to Fargo, ND where they raised their children. Sandy worked as a nurse for 40 years. She proudly worked 28 of those years for the VA Medical Center in Fargo, ND. Sandy retired from nursing in 1998. Ken and Sandy moved to Glyndon in 1984 where they have made their home since. Sandy enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was a wonderful seamstress, excellent cook and enjoyed traveling. Sandy was the first woman VFW commander of Albert E. Johnson Post #1223. Sandy is survived by her husband, Kenneth of Glyndon; her children, Ken (Shelly) Kosienski of Fargo; Paul (Jodi) Kosienski of Fargo; Sue (Duane) Peterson of Glyndon; and six grandchildren, Zachary, Joshua, Paula, Paige, Cody and Maggie May.
