Sara Theede

Sara passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo at the age of 75.

Sara Ann Murrell was born on July 18, 1938, the daughter of Robert and Hazel (Bartlett) Murrell in York, PA. She grew up throughout the United States, attended Purdue University and graduated with a degree in Microbiology. Sara met Gerald “Butch” Theede while working at Cutter Labs in Berkeley, CA. They were married on February 5, 1966 and made their home in Pinole, CA for over 40 years. After their children were born, Sara stayed at home and raised their family. Later, she returned to the workforce and taught computer classes at an elementary school.

Butch and Sara retired and moved to rural Cummings in 2000 where they have since made their home. She enjoyed her time at the Hillsboro Golf Course, was involved with the Hillsboro hospital auxiliary, and with the ladies in the Red Hat Society. She was a baseball fan for many years, and was a proud original owner of her 1962 Chevrolet Impala Supersport.  Sara loved collecting stamps and anything with a dachshund on it . Her beloved dachshunds, Fritz and Maggie will greatly miss her.

Sara is survived by her husband, Butch of Cummings; her daughter, Cindy Freeman and her husband Jude of Catonsville, MD; her son, Ken Theede and his wife Susan of Escondido, CA; and her three beloved grandchildren – Marleigh Freeman, Evan and Mason Theede. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Robert.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be made to the American Heart Association.

The family would like to invite everyone to a luncheon at the Hillsboro Vets Club immediately following the funeral service.
