Shawn Nysveen

Shawn Eugene Nysveen passed away on January 4 ,2018 at the age of 54. He was born August 1 ,1963 in Grand Forks, ND to Myron and Lorna (Hunking) Nysveen. He was baptized and confirmed at Norway Lutheran Church in rural Cummings, ND. He graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1982. Shawn worked a variety of carpentry and construction jobs throughout his life, and spent the past five years working at American Crystal in Hillsboro. He enjoyed watching the NSDU Bison and Minnesota Vikings football teams, as well as playing pinochle and cribbage. He was preceded in death by his father, Myron, and his grandparents Henry and Mina Nysveen and William and Marie Hunking. He is survived by his mother, Lorna, Hillsboro, sister Tammi (Ed) Mooney, Hillsboro, brother Dirk (Sue) Nysveen, West Fargo, nieces Michele Mooney and Erin (Nate) Kenyon, nephew Joe Mooney, an aunt and uncle and numerous cousins. He is also survived by his cat Lucky. Services will be held at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Hillsboro on January 9, 2018 at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at the Norway Lutheran Church cemetery in rural Cummings.
