Shirley Sanchez

Shirley Sanchez, 63, passed away on Monday, May 4, 2015, surrounded by her family and close friends in her Ada, MN home. Shirley Diane Sanchez was born on October 23rd, 1952 in Atlanta Georgia, daughter of Grady and Betty Ballew. Shirley was raised in College Park, Georgia. She attended elementary school at Cliftondale and graduated high school from the College Park Secondary Academy. After high school, Shirley moved to Key West Florida with her son Ron. In 1977 Shirley moved to Minnesota, where she had two more children, Michael and Jenifer. She worked for many years as a teacher at the Fergus Falls Regional Treatment Center. She retired from the Treatment Center as a result of an automobile accident. She then spent several years working as a juvenile detention officer and later on a security officer. Shirley enjoyed spending time with her treasured friend, Dave Gerjerts, her children and her grandchildren. She also enjoyed darts, she was on a dart league for some time. Shirley spent most of her time caring for others, ensuring everyone in her presence felt welcome. She will always be remembered as the woman who cared for everyone. Shirley is survived by her mother Betty, step-father Bill, sister Vicky, sister Jean, brother Tommy, son Ron, daughter Jen among several grandchildren.
