Sister Antonine Foy, 93, member of the Sisters of the Presentation, Fargo, died Saturday, January 30, 2016, in Villa Maria nursing home of Fargo, ND. Sister Antonine was born October 17, 1922, in Fargo, North Dakota, the second of four children born to Edward and Susan Foy. She attended St. Mary’s Grade School and Sacred Heart Academy High School, from which she graduated in 1940. Catherine Foy, as she was known in school, was taught by the Sisters of the Presentation and entered the Order in Fargo in 1941 and received the name, Sister Antonine. She made her final Profession of Vows in 1947. Sister graduated from the College of St. Scholastica with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Education, and the University of North Dakota with a Master’s Degree in Business Education. Sister Antonine taught at Sacred Heart academy and St Mary’s School in Fargo; St. Alphonsus High School in Langdon, North Dakota; St. James in New Rockford, and Shanley High School in Fargo. Sister was the head of the Business Department at Shanley for a number of years and served as principal before being elected Superior of the Order of Presentation Sisters, a position she held for six years. Sister Antonine also served as Business Administrator of the Order for eight years and served on the Administrative Council. The last thirteen years of her active ministry were at St. Ansgar’s Hospital in Park River, North Dakota, where she served as receptionist. Sister Antonine retired from active ministry in 1998 and was living at the Presentation Sister’s Motherhouse in Fargo until she moved to the Villa Maria nursing home a few years before her death. Sister is survived by the members of her religious Community; two nieces Julie and Jodi, a grandniece Katie and sister in law Brandi of Fargo. Sister Antonine was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Margaret Mary and Sister Celine, her brother Edward and two nephews, Pat and Mike. Visitation is Tuesday February 2, 2016 from 6:00 to 7:00 at Sacred Heart Convent Chapel with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. The funeral is Wednesday February 3, 2106 at 10:00 AM with visitation from 9-10 AM at Sacred Heart Convent Chapel. In place of flowers, donations may be made to Presentation Sisters Foundation.
