Sr. Anne Frawley

Sister Anne Frawley went to meet her Beloved on December 22, 2018.
Sister Anne was born December 14, 1940 in Gibbinstown, Kilmallock, Co. Limerick, Ireland to Johanna Hartigan Frawley and Patrick Frawley. She had seven siblings. She is survived by three brothers and two sisters. Two brothers, Joe and James preceded her in death.
She left her home and family at the age of 14 to become an aspirant with Sisters of the Presentation, Fargo. She completed her high school education in Shanely High School, Fargo. She was received into the Congregation in 1958 and was professed as a Sister of the Presentation on August 17, 1960.
She graduated from St. Louis University with a major in Chemistry and a Math minor in 1966. Subsequently she received an MA in Natural Science in 1974 from the University of Seattle and an MA in Catholic School Administration from Boston College in 1984.
She ministered in many schools: St. Anthony and Nativity Elementary Schools; Shanley High School and Cardinal Muench Seminary in the Fargo Area. St. Alphonsus and St. James in Langdon and New Rockford; Butte Central High, Butte MT. She traveled to Goshen, New York to minister in John S. Burke Catholic High School. She served as teacher, principal and superintendent of schools.
Within the Congregation she ministered as Chapter Delegate, Director of Novices and member of the Formation team.
She is remembered for her love of education. Her brilliance as a science teacher and her desire to remain in the classroom after retirement. She cherished her science books and has retained them to this day. She longed and hoped to return to teaching. Aging or being out of sync with modern students had no place in her heart. She adapted to the world technology before her peers.
Her generous, kind spirit was always available to accompany others on their journey. Like our Foundress, Nano Nagle, she spent herself in the service of others.
She is survived by her Presentation Sisters, Fargo and by the Sisters in the US Province; by her two brothers and two sisters; by her amazing students and circle of friends.

Sr. Anne was a wonderful educator. She was very compassionate with her teaching and it was quite evident that she was devoted to her students. Sr. Anne was one of my favorite instructors at Shanley. She was always willing to help me and used her own break time to set up a self study class prior to me entering college. RIP Sr. Anne
Sr. Anne was my mentor when I did my student teaching at Shanley. Outstanding teacher and person. God bless her.
Im saddened by the death of my lovely aunt Anne. For the 1st time ever I didn’t get to talk to you on your birthday as you were to unwell. One year when the Shanley Auction was still “new”, the person who was to chair it dropped out. Sr. Anne, who already had a full time job, stepped up to chair it. She did an enormous amount of work with not too many people to help her. The auction raised $7,000 that year.
We know the rest of the story: The Shanley Auction has become a celebrated tradition and an enormous fund-raiser, involving hundreds of donors and volunteers. It was entirely possible that dropping the auction that year would have been the end of it.
To me, this episode in her life represents the person she was – not afraid of hard work, not seeking recognition or accolades, willing to help Shanley in any way she could, and modeling the motto of our beloved Presentation Sisters – “Doing what needs to be done.”
It was a pleasure and an honor to be her colleague and friend.

so sorry I couldn’t drive to Fargo today for the funeral due to the snow conditions. Anne was a wonderful friend, dedicated educator, approached difficult situations with determination and loyalty. I have fond memories of Anne staying a week with our family one summer before she became a postulant. We felt honored to have someone from Ireland with us! Thanks Anne for your dedicated service all these years, for the sacrifices you made to leave your home country and family. May you now rest in God’s eternal peace and joy
You have been an inspiration to our whole family. A loving and wonderful listener as a sister, a caring and thoughtful aunt, and a joy to be around, we thank you for your presence in our lives. Your dedication to God and to a life of spirituality has guided us. Rest in eternal Peace and know you were loved and will always be thought of with tenderness and appreciation.

Lovely to read such kind words from past students about our aunt anne RIP .She was indeed a very special and kind person .May she rest in peace .
So sad to hear that Nancy /Sister ANNE has gone home to God. We were in Primary School in Bulgaden in County Limerick in Ireland from 1947 to 1954! We occasionally met if our holiday times in Ireland coincided during Summertimes through the 1970s and again from 1995 onwards. She was a lady of great wisdom, gentleness and compassion. I just heard about Sr. Anne. What a wonderful woman and such an inspiration to my family. She helped us raise our children to become responsible adults. My husband and I will be forever indebted to her. Loved her dearly.

So sorry to hear about Sr. Anne’s passing! She was my last principal at St. Alphonsus before I quit teaching music. She was always so supportive of me, my students and program, even when there was no money in the budget! And such a kind soul! I know we all now have an advocate in Heaven!
Rest In Peace Sr. Anne. I have had the honor of knowing Sr. Anne since my birth, spending many visiting Sunday’s at the convent. Anne had a great sense of humor ; however, as a teacher she tried desperately to keep a stern face. She always had trouble keeping the twinkle from her eye. I completed my first crop walk , twenty five miles with Sr Anne. In 2016, I walked with several of the presentation sisters in the women’s walk. Thank you Sr Anne, for teaching me to protest and fight for human rights. You are a true treasure and will be missed dearly.
Sister Anne was always a kind and friendly person. After some 40 years, she still would ask me about my children who she taught , whenever I would meet her. You are in my prayers.
