Stuart Keller

March 12, 1974 - June 22, 2017

Stuart Keller, 43, Casselton, ND passed away Thursday, June 22 at his parent’s lake home surrounded by his family under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Stuart Ryan Keller was born March 12, 1974 in Yuba City, California to Gary and Jean (Schefter) Keller. He attended grade school in Lisbon and West Fargo graduating from Red River High School in Grand Forks in 1992. He married Miranda (Karczeuski) Schmidt on October 11, 2014 and became the loving stepfather of Kyla and Virginia.

Stuart attended Mayville State University. He received his LPN degree from Northland Community and Technical College in 2005.

Stuart worked at Development Homes in Grand Forks providing pediatric healthcare. Upon receiving his LPN certification he worked at Valley Eldercare. In 2010 he moved to Fargo where he worked at Bethany Homes until taking a position in Sanford Pediatric Home Health in 2013.

Stuart was diagnosed with glioblastoma in January 2016. It was disheartening to learn that 34 ½ years after conquering leukemia and being in remission since the age of 7, cancer had once again disrupted his life. His passion for pediatric healthcare grew from his experience as a childhood cancer survivor.

Stuart was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Casselton. He was a member of the El Zagel Shriners. His favorite hobbies included fishing and watching football.

Stuart is survived by his spouse Miranda, stepdaughters Kyla and Virginia, his parents, Gary and Jean, Fargo, sisters: Stacy (Dave)DuToit, Bismarck, and Jill (Eric) Piela, Fargo, nieces Madison and Emma DuToit, nephews Elliot and Julien Piela, grandparents, Henry and Ruth Keller, Bismarck, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edwin and Edna Schefter, uncle Bill Schefter and cousin Clint Schefter.

    To the Keller Family,
John and I had the pleasure of seeing Stuart on occasion, when he and our son, John Robert, would be sharing a evening campfire at our farm after a fun day of fishing. Through our visiting, we realized that Stuart was an exceptional person, with a big heart in caring for people and a great sense of humor to keep him strong. We also have had the opportunity to meet Mandy, Kyla, and Virginia as well, and we think that Stuart was a wonderful family man.
We know that Stuart is now at peace. Our best wishes to his family.
