  1. My belated heartfelt condolences.. Sumit was my batchmate at IITK. I could vividly recall his friendly & helpful demeanor and ever present smile…

  2. Mumbai MaharashtraI on behalf of rest of the batch of IIT Kanpur, would like to pay our belated condolences for our dear batch-mate, Sumit Ghosh, whose demise we became aware of only recently. Sumit entered IIT Kanpur, after securing 2nd rank in the West Bengal Higher Secondary Exam. He has been an exemplary batch-mate showing what intellect and hard-work with a focus can bring about. He was politest and gentlest person with an omnipresent peaceful smile. He could sleep for only 4-5 hours and yet appear refreshed with his characteristic smile. He would get up at 4 am and re-read from his collection of books. Sumit satisfied the curiosity of Subash Bhardwaj by simply stating, “If you had a collection of Gems, why would you look elsewhere”. According to Aloke, his first year room-mate, “He was a perfectionist and gave me inferiority complex by his dedication to studies.” Aloke further recalls that he was very good in singing, especially Bengali Songs. He used to write in very tiny but well-formed letters, and his answers used to be to-the-point. We are glad that IITK served as a stepping stone for his distinguished career which we are proud of.

May his soul rest in Peace. We will miss him.
