Teresa died on Tuesday, July 29, 2003, at the Hillsboro Medical Center Nursing Home at the age of 83. Teresa was born on October 14, 1919, the daughter of Harry and Louise (Vettel) McDonald, near Caledonia, North Dakota. She grew up in this area, attended school, and graduated from Caledonia High School. Teresa was united in marriage to Erle Abentroth on January 3, 1940. They farmed near Cummings, North Dakota, for over 50 years before moving to Hillsboro in 1998. Teresa was a life long member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and the Altar Guild; a member of the Traill County Homemakers Club; a charter member of the Riverside Homemakers Club; and a member of the Hillsboro Hospital Auxiliary. She is survived by her husband, Erle of Hillsboro; her children, Michael (Sallie) Abentroth of Choteau, Montana, and their children, Aaron and Alissa; Kay (Duane) Preston of East Grand Forks, Minnesota, and their children, Jeff , Teresa, and Michael; Barb (Neil) Nelson of Hillsboro, North Dakota, and Lance, Garrett, and Natalie; Douglas (Sue) Abentroth of Caledonia, North Dakota, and their children, Emily, Heather, Heide, Erica, Mitchell, and Casey; David Abentroth of Climax, Minnesota, and children, Alicia, Jayne and Donny; Greg (Vickie) Abentroth of Cummings, North Dakota, and their children, Justin, Tiffany and Devin; Scott (Stephanie) Abentroth of Nielsville, Minnesota, and their children, Nicholas and Vanessa; Kevin Abentroth of Cummings, North Dakota; daughter-in-law, Elaine Abentroth and children, Robbie and Sarah; and 13 great grandchildren. Teresa is also survived by her sister, Grace Cotton of Hillsboro, North Dakota; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sons, baby Thomas and Charles; brothers, Willard and Harry Jr. McDonald. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Caledonia Cemetery Fund, Hospice of the Red River Valley, Hillsboro Medical Center, or St. Rose of Lima Church or Hillsboro United Parish. Funeral: 10:30 Friday, August 1, 2003, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Hillsboro Visitation: 2-7 PM Thursday with a prayer service at 7 PM, and a rosary at 6:45, all at St. Rose of Lima Church - and one hour prior to the funeral in the church on Friday Burial: Caledonia Cemetery, Caledonia, North Dakota (Wildeman Funeral Home, Hillsboro)
