Thomas J. McMahon, 90, of Fargo, ND passed away December 29, 2009 in Fargo surrounded by his loving family. Tom was born on October 19, 1919 to Dennis J. McMahon and Josephine R. Silvernail in Aberdeen, SD. He attended North Dakota State School of Agriculture until his enlistment in the United States Army where he served with distinction in the European Theater during World War II. He married Alice M. Wieers on October 19, 1944 at St. Peter’s Church in Columbia, South Carolina. They lived in Riverdale, ND, Marquette, MI and Fargo, ND where they resided for 51years. Tom was a civil engineer with the Army Corps of Engineers and later for Tennefos Construction and retiring with Northern Improvement Construction Company in 1981. He enjoyed pheasant hunting, golfing and supporting his favorite Green Bay Packers as well as the North Dakota State University Bison. He is survived by his sister; Mary McMahon of Florida, brothers; Jim (Betty) McMahon and Vince (Evonne) McMahon of California; sister-in-law, Doris McMahon of North Dakota; children; Sheryl (Jerry) Boe of Texas, Michael (Jennifer) McMahon of Wisconsin, Patrick McMahon of Fargo, Denise (Keith) Rheault of Nevada, Maureen (Rolf) Ronken of Virginia, Kileen (Daniel) Snyder of Washington; 15 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Marie; his sister, Marion and brother Bernard. Tom’s family would like to express their sincere thanks and gratitude to Hospice of the Red River Valley for the excellent and compassionate care of our father and our family. Dad, we will miss your sense of humor and the colorful stories of your adventurous life. We will think of you often throughout the Autumns of our life…and yes, we will cheer on the Green Bay Packers even at first and goal and they fumble the ball. Visitation: 5-7 PM on Monday, January 4, 2009 at Boulger Funeral Home in Fargo, ND and one hour prior to the service at church.
