Thomas Allen Pedersen, age 68, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2018 under Hospice Care. Tom was born August 1, 1949 to Cyril and Beverly (LeClair) Pedersen. He graduated from Hibbing High School in 1967, and later graduated from Moorhead State University with a degree in Psychology. On March 10, 1979 he married Virlaine Julius and they made their home in Fargo, North Dakota. His career was in sales and sales management, primarily in the automotive business. Tom loved the outdoors, was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed canoeing in the BWCAW. Family trips centered around the enjoyment of nature, typically at a lake or exploring new camping sites. Tom treasured time with family and especially loved family reunions and hosting an annual apple weekend. He loved to learn and research everything and had a passion for home improvement projects and restored vintage cars. The love of Tom's life were his wife, children, and grandchildren. Tom was a longtime friend of Bill W and had a deep spirituality that guided him in his daily life. Every year of Tom's life was fruitful and serving others came naturally; helping others, nurturing relationships and giving advice, almost always in the form of a real life example. Tom is survived by his wife Virlaine, two daughters Katherine (Michael) Orth of Fargo, ND, Laura (Jim) Wenger of Sun Prairie, WI, a son Michael Pedersen of New Hope, MN, and five grandchildren, Kylee Haak, Benjamin Orth, Lauren Orth, Avery Wenger and Nora Wenger. His mother Beverly Pedersen of Lonsdale, MN, one brother and seven sisters; Jerome (Jane) Pedersen of Eveleth MN, Carol (Alfred) Anderson of Prior Lake MN, Mary Blichfeldt of Bemidji, MN, Janet (Dennis) Harty of New Prague MN, Jean Giles of Chaska, MN, Paula (Kevin) Jelen of Big Lake MN, Teresa (Doug) Andrys of Chaska, MN, and Rebecca Schaecher of Chaska, MN and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Thomas is preceded in death by his father Cyril Pedersen and brother-in-law Paul Blichfeldt. A prayer service will be held at Boulger Funeral Home in Fargo on July 12 with visitation from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. and prayer service at 7 p.m. The funeral service will be held at St. John Lutheran church in Fargo on July 13 at 1:00 p.m. A reception will follow the service in the lower level social hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to The Gift of Life Transplant House 705 2nd St SW, Rochester, MN 55902 and Sanford Case Management Fund 801 North Broadway, Fargo, ND 58102

  5. Praying for your family asking Jesus for a peace that passes all understanding. Peace only He can give.

  6. Tom was a faithful member of The Men’s Tuesday Night Meeting in Moorhead for many, many years. He always had good words to share whenever he was called on to share his experience, strength and hope with our group. Tom’s sobriety was always something he cherished. His quiet way was a strong message to our entire group of what long term sobriety should look like and sound like. During his illness we never heard Tom complain once about anything. It was obvious that he had a very strong faith in His Higher Power and was putting his Trust in his Higher Power. We know that Tom is with Him now. He will be deeply missed by our group, there is no doubt about that.

  7. I am remembering the many fishing and canoe trips with Tom. Such a nice guy and fun to be with.
A void in my life to be sure.

  8. Verlaine and family; On behave of my wife and me our prayers are with you at this time. I, myself will miss him very much as when together fishing I always had a good time being with him and will be in my heart and mind anytime I go fishing. God bless Henry and Kathryn Pietrzak

  10. Henry and Kathryn Pietrzak; On behave of the both of us we want you to know that you are in our prayers. My getting to know Tom was such a gift to me and will miss him and will be remembered as a very special person that was a part of my life. God bless Henry and Kathryn

  11. Tom had so many wonderful qualities. He was honest, hard working, trustworthy, intelligent, pensive, and held himself to high standards to name a few things. He was also a good steward and enjoyed sharing his knowledge or good fortune with others. He was a good brother and a good friend; the kind everyone wishes for. He will be greatly missed by those of left behind but greatly received by God. He is probably sitting beside his father, Cyril, right now talking about the iron ore mines and fishing!
