Todd Arthur Manthei died peacefully at home in Fargo on Wednesday, November 11, 2009 after a very courageous battle with cancer. He was born on April 26, 1965, in Grand Forks, North Dakota to Milton & Anne (Kvasager) Manthei. He was baptized and confirmed at United Lutheran Church in Grand Forks. Todd attended schools in Grand Forks and graduated from Red River High School in 1983. He was a member of the Concert Choir and Madrigal Singers. He was enrolled in an auto technician course at AVTI in East Grand Forks, MN. He was employed at K-Mart, Lunde Motors, and most recently, Luther Ford in Fargo, when he was diagnosed with cancer. He married Janna Scharf on November 19, 1988. Todd enjoyed spending time with his sons, his softball team, golfing, and was a loyal hockey dad. He enjoyed life, living it to the fullest and will always be remembered with a smile on his face and his willingness to help others. He is survived by his wife, Janna, and sons, Chad, Jared and Corey Manthei of Fargo; parents, Milton and Anne Manthei, Grand Forks, ND; sisters, Sue (John) Nelson of Apple Valley, MN; Diane Manthei of Grand Forks, ND; his brother, David (Kathie) Manthei of Grand Forks, ND. Nieces and nephews; Adam, Sarah, and Joe Nelson of Apple Valley, MN; Megan and Tyler Manthei of Grand Forks, ND; Michelle Manthei of Grand Forks, ND. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles and many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: Ole and Kathrine (Mandt) Kvasager; paternal grandparents: Julius and Lillian (Zachow) Manthei. Uncles Harold and Wally Manthei, Ole, Otto, and Arne Kvasager and an aunt Annie Kvasager. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes to have memorials sent to Red River Valley Hospice, 1701 38th St. S., Suite 101, Fargo, ND 58103-4499 or to Fargo Slowpitch, 2516 Country Club Parkway, Moorhead, MN 56560. Visitation will be held at Boulger Funeral Home, 123 10th St. S., Fargo, ND, 58103, on Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009, from 5-7 pm with a prayer service at 7. The funeral will be held at Boulger Funeral Home on Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, at 10:30 am, with visitation one hour before the service. A light lunch will be available after the service.
