Tom Garske

Tom (Papa to his kids), age 65, peacefully left our world on June 6, 2015. Originally from Fargo, he has resided in White Bear Lake, MN for the past 22 years. Papa received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in his hometown of Fargo-Moorhead, was a proud Veteran, very successful entrepreneur in multiple endeavors, an integral part of every business relationship he was a part of, and President of the Homeowner’s Association Board where he lived.  He was an active snowboarder, continuing to make multiple trips throughout the winters to the Duluth area and to Montana, and was the driving force in our introduction to snowboarding. Papa also was an avid catamaran sailor, beginning in the late 70s and continuing to sail and race almost every weekend of the summer since. This was truly a love of his! Papa was an expert in his area of business and will always be remembered for his sense of humor… he loved to joke with people, make people laugh, and always knew when the people around him needed a lift. Papa was a courageous, caring, compassionate leader in everything he did – always analyzing his environment, and truly had a passion for life itself. He was the “Knight in Shining Armor” to us kids – always ready to protect and advocate for us. He was always happy and excited to bring us on new adventures and introduce us to new things.

Papa is lovingly remembered by us, Alee (Ross) and Nate, his energetic grandson, Link, mother, Amelia, siblings, Richard (Terri), Donna, John (Deb), and Jim (Teresa), Diane (married from 1974-1993), and many more people. Papa was so proud to be Grandpa Tom and loved every moment he spent with “The Linkster.”

A celebration of Papa’s wonderful life will be held on Wednesday, June 24th at Boulger Funeral Home, 123 10th St. S., Fargo, with social/visitation starting at 4 pm and Celebration of Life service at 5 pm.

  6. Dear Garske Family,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this sorrowful time. As classmates of Tom at Shanley we knew him to be a fine young man with a lot of ability and talent. Reading your remarks we see he accomplished so much in his life. Clearly his family and children were his proudest moments. May he rest in eternal peace with our Lord and Savior as his spirit lives on in you.

Larry & Jane LaMont ( Class of ’67)

  7. We are so sorry for your loss. You have been in our thoughts. This was a beautifully written obituary. It really shows what a kind and good man he was. We will be there with you to celebrate Tom.

  8. To the Garske Family:

We were so sorry to hear of your loss. Although we didn’t know Tom, it’s obvious he was a good man, and well loved by those who were lucky enough to have known him.

Our condolences to the entire family.
