Tom A. Osier, 51, Walcott, died Thursday, August 18, 2011 due to injuries suffered in an auto accident near Walcott, ND.

Tom was born September 29, 1959 in Pipestone, MN to Emery and Betty (Hegle) Osier.  He moved to Gettysburg, SD and lived in various towns in the tri-state area while growing up.   He graduated from Casselton High School in 1977 and moved to Walcott, ND where  he  worked for the Harvest States Elevator in Walcott.  He married Jane Blackburn on February 14, 2000 at the Walcott Lutheran Church.  The couple made their home on a farm 8 miles west and south of Walcott. 

In 2002, Tom transferred to Dakota Ag Coop in Kindred, ND where he assisted in running the elevator.

His wife, daughters and family were the most important part of his life.  Tom also enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling, motorcycling , singing karaoke, cooking and smoking meats.

Tom is survived by his wife, Jane, his daughters Jacie, Jesie, Jadie and Jenna, siblings Dan (Marsha) Osier, Gettysburg, SD,  Steve (Deb) Osier Shippenville,Pennsylvania. Sue Solheim (Charlie Gabriel), Redfield, SD, Gayle Robertson (Brian), Watertown, SD, Cheri Robideau, Aberdeen, SD and Jim Osier (Deb), Mayville, ND and many nieces and nephews.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents.

    My thoughts & prayers are with you and your family during this time of such a great loss! I didn’t know Tom all that well but what I did know about him is that he was a great guy. He will be greatly missed by those whose hearts he touched through out his short life. May God give you guys the strength to make it through this hard time and may the memories of Tom keep you strong. Just remember God only takes the best flowers for his garden. If you guys need any help don’t be afraid to ask, there’s people out there who will be happy to give you a hand! Take care and may you find inner peace to make it through!

    i have known Tom for many years. I always considered him a close friend.I will deeply miss our conversations on a daily basis.I didnt get to see him a lot because I am bases in Moorton.My old friend and co workerwill be deeply missed.

    Very sad to hear the news about Tom. When I would haul grain to the elevator I was always relieved to see him working. He always helped me out and made things run smooth for me. I appreciated his efforts and will most definitely notice his absence in the future. Thinking of and praying for his family during this sad time.

  13. Jane, As I came to work at the FBC tonight I saw the sign up about your husband. It took my breath away!! Noah and Jesse have such a good time at school and through the church. He will be so sad to hear about her dad. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. My heart aches for you and the kids!!! Steve travels each week and I don’t know what I would do without him. May God be near you and the kids during this horrible and tragic time and for years to come.
