Our mom, Twila Joyce Burd-Lovas, passed away and was brought to heaven on July 30, 2021. Twila was born on November 1, 1940 to Reidar and Florence Haakenson at their home near Bottineau, ND. She graduated from Valley City High School in 1958. She was a faithful Christian, loving mother/grandmother, and great cook spending many hours baking treats/meals for others to enjoy. She retired from the ASCS office after 38 years of service. She enjoyed yearly trips to St. Petersburg Florida in the winter to visit family and spend miles and miles of walking on the beach. Her other love was visiting family in Idaho enjoying the beautiful scenery and good food. We will miss her more than just as a mom but also a friend. She had a beautiful spirit and lived to serve others. She dedicated so much time to her family and her love was evident in her actions toward others. Twila was preceded in death by her first husband, Bruce, and son, Jack. She is survived by her husband Peter Lovas of Hillsboro, ND; children, Chad (Melissa) of Coeur d’Alene, ID, Wade (Patricia) of St. Petersburg, FL; stepson, Jason Lovas (Sarah) of Hillsboro, ND, stepdaughter, Jeannine Bryant (Todd) of Lincoln, NE; grandchildren, Derek of Starbuck, MN, Jake of St Petersburg, FL; great granddaughter, Addilyn of Starbuck, MN, step grandchildren, Kate and Noah of Lincoln, NE, Axel Lovas of Hillsboro, ND; sister, Delores Undem of Valley City, ND; brother, Royce Haakenson (Shawna) of St George, UT; and many other beloved neices and nephews. 1. So heartbreaking to lose my good friend and neighbor, always ready to visit and share her insights and common sense. Love you my friend❤️.

  2. Twila or as I knew her (T-BURD)
I came to call her this as this was what her Tupperware was labeled when she would bake the best cookies (pecan tarts) and mail them to my family in Bemidji each Christmas starting back in 1995. My children couldn’t wait to get the famous cookies from Wade’s mom. She was such a kind kind soul – she will be sorely missed.

  3. I’m so happy Bruce ad I got to know Bruce and Twila through Diane and Glen Kuether while Diane taught in Hillsboro! What a fun bunch of people! I will miss Twila and her soft, calm voiice.
