Vernon S. Muhle, Sr., 85, Fargo passed away Thursday, June 2, 2016 at his home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley, Fargo. Vernon was born July 9, 1930 in Moorhead, Minnesota to Oscar and Minnie (Helseth) Muhle. He attended Glyndon High School, graduating in 1948 where he excelled at football, basketball and baseball. He worked on the family farm north of Glyndon and for Rusco Window Company. He married Margaret J. Sorby on January 20, 1950. Margaret passed away on April 18, 2006. They lived in Moorhead before making their home in Fargo. Vernon worked for the Fargo Post Office as a letter carrier for 34 years before his retirement. In his retirement, he worked for Cash Wise foods and helped his nephews with fall harvest. His many hobbies included, golfing on the Red River Valley Senior Tour and wood working. He loved to follow the Boston Celtics, New York Yankees, Minnesota Vikings and the NDSU Bison. He is survived by his children; V.S. “Butch” (Joie) Muhle Jr., Fargo, North Dakota, Dave (Sheila) Muhle, Lake Ida, Minnesota, Jeff (Laura) Muhle, Fargo, North Dakota, grandchildren; John (Sandy) Muhle, Andrew Muhle, Chris (Raime) Muhle, Tony (Christi) Muhle, Chad (Melissa) Nesemeier, Hope (Dan) Novacek, Tabetha Cooper, Teresa (Chad) Anderson, Janice (Cole) Martin, Brian (Angela) Cossette, Brianna Stevens, 13 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild, 2 sisters; Gina Tang, Irene Hiltwein and 1 brother, Kenny (Lois) Muhle. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter; Laurel Muhle, daughter; Lorna Muhle, grandson; Joshua Muhle, siblings; Ole, Norman, LeRoy, Orville, Harold and Donald Muhle, Selma Weatherford, Evelyn Cannon and Ethel Muhle. Vernon’s family wishes to thank the staff of both Hospice of the Red River Valley and Sanford Home Healthcare. Funeral Service: 12:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at Boulger Funeral Home & Celebration of Life Center, Fargo with visitation starting at 11:00 A.M. Inurnment at a later date at Holy Cross Cemetery North, Fargo.

    Always a diligent ,loyal, employee..it sad to see him pass. I will remember his ability to case
    letters with speed and accuracy…almost perfectly in line. He was a wonderful person to work with
    at the Post Office. May he find peace in Christ.

  3. I had the pleasure of working with Vern at Cashwise. As one of our delivery drivers, he set an example for the rest of us on how to be efficient, accurate, calm under pressure and still have a sense of humor. We all miss him and extend our sympathy to his family.

  7. We are so sorry for Vern to not be with us anymore, but, we know that he is finally not suffering. I will miss our Saturday get togethers for coffee at Cashwise and talking about sports and everything in between. Also, my wife took great joy in supplying Vern with canned goodies from our garden and baking for him during the holidays. Vern, you will be truly missed by us and hope you are finally back out on the golf course where you belong. All our love
