Viola "Vi" Ludwig

Viola (Vi) Ludwig Hillsboro, North Dakota Viola passed away on Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at the Hillsboro Medical Center at the age of 89. Viola Delores Zimmerman was born on August 18, 1918 in Hillsboro, the daughter of William and Ella (Meyer) Zimmerman. She was baptized in the Lutheran Faith on September 15, 1918 and confirmed on July 26, 1931 at Immanuel Lutheran Church near Hillsboro. Viola received her education at the Eldorado Township School near Hillsboro. She was employed from 1941 until 1945 at the Douglas Aircraft and California Engineering at Santa Monica, CA. Viola was united in marriage to Walter Ludwig on November 26, 1948 at St. John Lutheran Church in Hillsboro. They made their home in Hillsboro and she worked at local grocery stores until her retirement. Viola was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and the Women Missionary League and a charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary to Post 4172 in Hillsboro. Viola is survived by her daughter, Mary Ellen (Gary) Hawkins of Hillsboro; two granddaughters, Stacy (Dan) Harwood of Eden Prairie, MN; and Amy Hawkins (Jamie) of Elk River, MN; two great-grandchildren, Blake and Haylie; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; her parents; and three brothers, John, Victor and George Zimmerman.
