Virgil E. Brogren, age 84, Fargo, ND died Tuesday, December 7, 2004 in MeritCare Hospital.
Virgil E. Brogren was born May 2, 1920 in Willmar, MN. After the death of his father in 1934, the family moved to his grandparent?s farm near Ulen, MN. Virgil attended Ulen public schools. He farmed with his family. He was drafted into the Army in 1942 and served in the Signal Corps in Italy, then Germany. He was discharged in December 1945.
Virgil married Margaret Bromander on October 17, 1942 in Flom, MN. After his discharge from the Army, the couple purchased a farm near Waubun, MN where they farmed until 1960. They then moved to Fargo where they purchased Hot Coffee Catering Service which they operated until his retirement in 1999. He entered Rosewood on Broadway in July 2000.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Eagles, the Moose Lodge, Moorhead VFW, and Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Fargo. He was active with the Bethlehem Lutheran Church Boy Scout Troop.
Virgil is survived by his wife, Margaret; 7 children: Marlene (John) Burkel, Vadnais Heights, MN, Marlys (Darwin) Burda-Leach, Dilworth, MN, Darrell (Sue) Brogren, New Effington, SD, Corinne Brogren, Denver, CO, Dean Brogren, Fargo, Curtis (Kris) Brogren, New Castle, PA, Randy (Linda) Brogren, Fargo; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; a special family friend, Dennis Olson, Fargo; two sisters: Virginia Fagerlie and Phyllis (Julius) Schmit, both Detroit Lakes, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Vernon and Kenneth.
Visitation: 5:00-7:00 p.m. – Friday, December 10 in Boulger Funeral Home and Saturday in the church one hour before the funeral service
Prayer Service: 7:00 p.m. – Friday in Boulger Funeral Home
Funeral: 11:00 a.m. – Saturday, December 11, 2004 in Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND
Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo, ND
