Vonnie K. Paulus, 61 of Fargo, died Sunday, November 6, 2005 in the Palliative Care Unit of Meritcare Hospital, Fargo. Vonnie Hajek was born on November 14, 1943 in Oakes, ND to Anton and Viola (Gulke) Hajek. She graduated from high school in Wahpeton, ND and left the next day to work in the maintenance department at a bank in Casper, Wyoming. She was there for approximately 6 months and then moved to Minneapolis, MN and attended the University of Minnesota. She worked part-time for 7 years for the Gross Brothers and Krossnicko Industries as a credit agent in the receivables department. She worked for Hudson Bug Sprayers for a time. She then moved to Casper,WY, Ankeny, IA, Des Moines, IA, Missoula, MT and back to Des Moines. She worked for the same collection agency for 20 years and Montgomery Ward for 12 years. She moved to Mason City, IA and worked for a collection agency and eventually opened a branch office in Fargo in 1997. She later started working for Cellular Company and retired in May of 2005. She belonged to a Literacy Club, was involved with Relay for Life and volunteered at the Food Shelf and her church. Vonnie started a Red Hat Society in Fargo with many of her former high school classmates. She was always ready to have fun and laugh. There were many special times celebrated at the lake. Enjoying the company of family and friends was always a priority. She is survived by her children, Michael (Pam) Paulus of Salt Lake City, UT, Michelle (Scott) Barry of Fargo, Kimberly Paulus (J.R.) of Deer Lodge, MT; grandchildren, Nikki Eastis, Brandy Paulus, Allie Barry, Chris Paulus, Nate Barry; brothers, David (Sally) Hajek of Omaha, NE, James Doug (Vivian) Peters of Lake Klute, TX and her sister, Antonette AToni@ (John) Haley of Omaha, NE. At Vonnie=s request, memorials are preferred to the Red River Zoo or the Roger Maris Cancer Center in lieu of flowers. The memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 22 at 1:00 pm in Boulger Funeral Home Chapel, Fargo.
