Wayne (Pete) Heuer, age 65, died peacefully at Rochester Methodist Hospital, Rochester, MN on Sunday, January 16th, surrounded by his family and Pastor Dave Sobek. Wayne was born in Maple River Township, rural Leonard, ND on February 6, 1939, son of Walter and Anna Heuer. He attended the rural Maple River School through the 6th grade. He graduated from Leonard High school in 1957. He married his high school sweet heart, Betty Mae Nygard on September 19, 1959. They raised three sons, Larry, Lance and Leslie. They spent 35 years farming near Leonard. Wayne was a school bus driver for three different school districts for over 20 years. He spent a short period of time in Idaho and Iowa, coming back to ND in 1998. He resided in Kindred and worked for ET Excavating, Casselton, ND. He moved to Fargo in 2004 where he resided until his death. He was a lifelong member of the Bethel Moravian Church, rural Leonard, where he was Sunday School Superintendent and served on the trustee board. He was a longtime member of the Leonard Lions Club and served on the Leonard Township Board for many years. He is survived by his sons, Larry (Camille) Heuer of Fargo, Lance (Peggy) Heuer of Washburn, ND and Leslie (Mary) Heuer of Leonard. His six grandchildren, Zachary, Lacey, Eric, Kaylee, Landew and Madisen Heuer, his special friend, Betty Heuer, two sisters Verlin Elliott, Leonard,ND, and Edna Schonberger, Richland, WA and one brother Harold (Marlys) Heuer of Leonard and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Edwin and Howard. His boys will remember the special times they had hunting, fishing, camping, going to car shows, coin collecting and gun shows. The Funeral for Wayne will be Friday at 11am in the Bethel Moravian Church, rural Leonard, ND. Visitation will be Thursday from 5pm to 7pm with a prayer service at 7pm at the Fredrikson Funeral Chapel in Kindred, ND. Burial will be at the Bethel Moravian Cemetery following the Funeral Service.
