Wayne C. Perlenfein, 69, Fargo passed away Thursday, August 13, 2020 at his home.
Wayne was born July 7, 1951 in Fargo, North Dakota to Lloyd and Ethel (Henningsen) Perlenfein. He graduated from Fargo South High School in 1969 with honors, and lettering in swimming. He graduated from NDSU in 1974 with a degree in Architecture. He started out working for several local architecture firms, eventually co-owning his own firm in 1984 (Rogers Perlenfein & Associates) for 15 years. From there he held positions as Principal Architect for USPS, Jurisdiction Executive and Senior Manager for Planning, Design and Construction at the Architect of the Capitol in Washington D.C., as well as managing federal market strategies for classified and unclassified programs and projects with Leo A Daly, URS, HDR, and Perkins+Will. He retired in 2015 when his first grandchild (Bristol) was born.
He loved spending time at the lake whenever possible, traveling the world, taking annual family trips, golfing, reading, and enjoying his retirement spoiling his granddaughter.
He is survived by his son, George (Katie) Perlenfein, granddaughter, Bristol Perlenfein, Fargo, ND; siblings, Jane (Scott) Hoffman, Moorhead, MN, Paulette Renhowe, Bismarck, ND, Lester (Cindy) Perlenfein, Fargo, ND, Lloyd (Cindy) Perlenfein, Apache Junction, AZ; sister-in-law, Deb Perlenfein, West Fargo, ND; brother-in-law, Scott Gilman, Fargo, ND; and 13 nieces and nephews; and 20 great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Allen, sister Karen, and brother-in-law Bruce.
Celebration of Wayne’s Life: 10:00 A.M. Friday, August 21, 2020 at Boulger Funeral Home & Celebration of Life Center, Fargo. With visitation starting at 9:00 A.M.
Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Fargo.

Very tough to lose a fellow classmate and Architect. My condolences to George and his family.
So sorry to hear about Wayne. I wish I had looked him up since we graduated. He had quite a long list of accomplishments.

and Kathy used to babysit you when you where little, and it’s been a while since i used to run into you at Hornbachers. Again, saddened to think Wayne won’t be able to see Grandson grow up……

George, I am so sorry to hear of your fathers passing. Always so hard losing a parent. My thoughts and prayers for comfort and peace are with you and your family at this sad time.

I worked in Fargo with Wayne for two years after I graduated from NDSU. Wayne was a great mentor for a young inexperienced architect to be such as myself. Thank you Wayne!
Our condolences to the Perlenfein family John and I have many fond memories of Wayne but viewed the service online due to Covid 19. .So glad we had lunch with Wayne and my sister Jean at the lakes last summer.

Uncle Wayne..Of all the many blessings great or small. To have an uncle like you, was one of the greatest blessings of all. The family chain is broken now and nothing will feel the same. But, as God takes us one by one the chain will link again. You will be missed so much!! Love Tasha
Came upon this news today while trying to locate my neighbor from a few years ago. Wayne was a great guy. Glad he made Arizona his home for a few years. Condolences to his family and friends.
I saw this today while searching the web trying to locate Wayne because I had not heard from him in a few years. I was startled and saddened to read his obituary. I was a colleague of Wayne’s from USPS and from the Architect of the Capitol days for many years. Wayne had a passion for quality architecture and project management like none other and always gave insightful advice. He had a great sense of humor and was always a friend. We shared many stories about our families. He loved his family and was so proud and loved George, dearly. He loved being a Grandpa and would occasionally share pictures of Bristol. I will be miss and remember him. My condolences to George, Katie, Bristol, Jane, the family and friends. Albeit several years later, my thoughts are with you in remembering Wayne.
