Willis Lindgren died August 10, 2015 at Sanford Palliative Care in Fargo, ND.
Willis Stanley Lindgren was born March 10, 1926, to Manne and Marie Lindgren at Hope, ND. He was baptized at Blabon Lutheran Church. He attended school in a country school at Hugo Township. The family moved to a farm at Grandin, ND in 1933. Willis attended school in Grandin. He was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hendrum, MN.
He was a lifelong farmer, never married, but was a loving uncle to five nieces and nephews and lots of friend’s children. He transferred to Nora Lutheran in the 1950’s. He had a partnership with his brother, Wally, living on the farm at Gardner, ND. He enjoyed spending winters in Melbourne, FL. He learned to play golf at age 70, loved to shoot pool and play bingo. He worshipped at Advent Lutheran Church in Melbourne.
The family would like to thank the staff at Sanford in both Hillsboro and Fargo for their loving care. Thank you to Dr. Breen and to his Florida doctor, Dr. Kumar. Special thanks to niece, Sonja Meline for her faithful care.
He is survived by his brother, Wallace (Mildred) Lindgren; Sonja (Roger) Meline, Linda O’Kane, James (Roberta) Koepke, Robert (Sondra) Koepke, and Mark Koepke; several grandnieces, grandnephews and their families. His aunt, Martha Larson, and several cousins.
Willis was preceded in death by his mother and father, sisters: Elsie (Stanley) Koepke; Marie Lindgren, and brother, Victor Lindgren.

Willy was a favorite friend of the Meline Family all his life. His low key, mild mannered nature endeared him everyone but he was a very special friend to Uncle John and Dad (Albert). It has been a long journey and now Willy is also at home. Rest in Peace old friend.

We are so sad at the loss. Willie was a very kind man and a wonderful person. Although with his loss, we all still have memories.
In his memory, we can rest in knowing that “We will all meet again One day”.

We have so many fond memories of “Unky!” Since I would spend many of my summers in North Dakota while growing up, I remember Unky taking my brother John and I on a trip to western North Dakota and seeing Fort Abraham Lincoln, museums, the Mandan Indian mounds, and Medora. I remember Unky taking me (and my cousins) fishing, and camping with everyone (Willy, Wally & Milly, Jack Sund & family, and my brother John) at Itasca State Park. I remember Unky showing me how to mow with their riding lawn mower, and “graduating” up to driving grain trucks and combines. Oh how fun! I loved it! Chris and I remember being visited by MWW in Massachusetts, and visiting them in Melbourne, Florida. Unky sure was good at horse shoes and playing pool! Thank you for all the memories and good times Unky! We love and will miss you.
My sister Mary called us last night to tell us about Willy’s death. Our deepest sympathy & prayers are with you, Wally, Millie & family. We did not know Willy real well, but he seemed like such a kind & caring person when we did visit with him.
Hillsboro Drug sends our sympathies to Willis’ family. He was always so kind and soft spoken. We will all miss seeing him at the pharmacy!!

dear Lindgren family sorry to hear of “uncee’s death wish to offer you my sympathy and assure you of my prayers during this very difficult time in your lives. sadly I was never able to meet him in person but heard a lot about him from my friend Mark koepke & his sister Linda & others hope to make it to the funeral later today
