Xavier Vargas Garza Sr.

Xavier Vargas Garza Sr., passed away February 8, 2017 in his home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Xavier was born May 10, 1957 in Carrizo Springs, TX to Israel and Guadalupe Garza. His parents were migrant workers. They spent their summer months traveling the Felton, MN area. As a youth, Xavier enjoyed deer hunting with his dad and had great pride in his Pontiac GTO and had a real love for music. On May 24, 1978, Xavier married Dora Alicia Urrabazo in Crystal City, TX. They made their home in Crystal City and in 1979 Xavier Jr. was born. Xavier and Dora were migrants and they spent their time between Crystal City and the Fargo-Moorhead area. In 1987, Leelani was born. In the early 90’s, Xavier and Dora made their permanent home in Dilworth, MN. Xavier worked at Fargo Tank and he soon found his passion working for RDO Equipment. Xavier spent 17 years as a detail technician and enjoyed every minute of it, mostly because of the great friendships he made with his coworkers. On September 17, 2015 Dora Alicia passed away. Xavier devoted his time to his grandchildren, especially Daniel. They spent every weekend together and Xavier loved it. Xavier always stressed the importance of family and his family meant everything to him. He is survived by his children; Xavier Jr. (Bianca) Garza, Fargo, ND, Leelani (Michael) Eng, Dilworth, MN, grandchildren; Zach, Mora, MN, Marisela, Wisconsin Rapids, WI, Maya, Daniel and Isabella, all of Dilworth, MN; siblings; Israel Jr., Carrizo Springs, TX, Efrain, Carrizo Springs, TX, Sesar (Vanessa), Phoenix, AZ, Eva, Midland, TX, Mary (Claudio) Urrabazo, Moorhead, MN and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Dora Alicia, his father, mother and his younger brother, Fernando. Xavier will always be remembered for his infectious smile, his love for his children and most importantly, his grandchildren. Prayer Service: 2:00 P.M.
