Darlene E. Bauske, Fargo passed away Sunday, September 2, 2012 at her home under the care of her loving family and Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Darlene Ethlyn Ann Schultz was born in 1943 in Lisbon, North Dakota, to Hans and Esther Schultz. Darlene was the youngest of four children, joining brother Virgil, and sisters Janice and Virgie. Darlene attended school in Sheldon, North Dakota, until she moved to Fargo in the 5th grade, following the death of her father. Darlene graduated from Fargo Central High School. While she was still in high school, she worked at the Ritz Café as a waitress, and met a particularly good looking young man, her future husband, Don Bauske.
After High School, Darlene attended Interstate Business College, and obtained her certificate in Accounting. Darlene married Don Bauske in 1963 at Olivet Lutheran Church in Fargo. Darlene and Don welcomed two children into their lives, Raymond and LaDonna.
Darlene worked at St. John’s Hospital, Fargo Paper Company, and then for many years at Dakota Hospital (later Merticare) in the billing department. Shortly before she retired, Darlene successfully fought breast cancer; however, as a result of the battle, was later diagnosed with Leukemia, which she fought valiantly and with grace. Darlene was a blessing as a sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend, and leaves a legacy of kindness, hard work, self reliance and optimism for better things to come.
Darlene was preceded in death by her father, mother, and sister, Virgie. Darlene is survived by her husband, Donald Bauske; son, Raymond (wife Connie Cleveland); daughter, LaDonna Wilm (husband, Terry Wilm); grandchildren, Mitch Bauske, Claire Bauske, Matt Bauske, Nicholas Wilm, Nathan Wilm, and Lucas Wilm; sister, Janice Gustafson; and brother, Virgil Schultz, all of Fargo.

I was so sorry to read the passing of Darlene.
I read the obituary after the memorial service and we feel badly that we did not attend.
She was a fun lady and what a smile.

We are so saddened to hear of Darlene’s passing. Our families had some good times together.
It is so difficult to say goodbye to someone we love and hold so dear and if it were up to us, we would always keep them here with us but God has reasons of His own. Right now, your arms are empty, and your hearts are filled with tears and grief, for those of you who shared your days with Darlene are now finding those days too brief. Yet if only we could heaven see, you know she’s happy there. So trust her to God’s care and know that some day again you will hold her to your hearts when you reach Heaven’s shore.
You have our love, our prayers and our deepest sympathies. Darlene will be greatly missed by her family and friends. May beautiful memories sustain you and may God be with you to help and guide all of you through this difficult time and in the days to come. I knew Darlene from working at Dakota Hospital I worked in the Medical Records Department and we worked closely with the billers. She always had a great attitude, a friendly greeting and smile, and a sense of humor. She was truly a pleasure to work with. My deepest sympathies to Don and her family.
Family of Dar—
I worked several years with Dar at MeritCare. She was an inspiration to all of us!! We had many great times together at work and other outings.
My prayers and thoughts go out to her entire family. She had such a kind heart and was a beautiful lady in all aspects.
I will miss her greatly.

Don and family, Dar and I became great friends while working together at Dakota Hospital in the business office. We both filed the same insurances so we sat side by side for many, many years. We shared lots of laughter and tears and many other good times and sad times. Dar never forgot a friend. We were the kind of friends that could connect any time and it felt like it had NOT been months and months since we last saw each other. She was a genuine, loving, caring person whose family always came first. I loved Dar and will keep her close to my heart forever. May God bless you all at this difficult time.

We are so sorry to hear about Darlene’s death. There is nothing we can say to make your pain go away. And you’re right, Darlene has left a beautiful legacy. And let us include her children and grandchildren who were taught honest, integrity and have heart of gold! It was a previlege to know Darlene and we’ll miss her smiles!
