Obituary

Joanne Blanchard, 77, Fargo, passed away on May 6, 2015 in her home assisted by hospice.

Joanne Linnea Baldock was born on July 16, 1937 in Hunter, ND to Joe and Linnea Baldock. She graduated from Hunter High School and moved to Fargo to attend Dakota Business College. She began working at Nodak Mutual Insurance in 1955 and continued working there until 1965.

Joanne met the love of her life, Wayne Blanchard in 1956 and they were married October 26, 1957 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Fargo. In 1962 they moved into their first (and only home) in north Fargo. Timothy Wayne was born in 1965 and Tami Joanne was born in 1967.

Mom was a great wife, mother and grandmother. She was the biggest cheerleader for her husband, kids and grandkids; rarely missing a game (softball, hockey, soccer, baseball), concert, or skating competition. She was incredibly proud of us all. She loved football and spent many weekends at Dacotah Field watching the Shanley Deacons or the NDSU Bison.

She loved to “bum” with friends as well as her coffee dates with them. She loved roses, ladybugs and snowmen, all of which are evident in her home. She worked with the Roger Maris Golf Tournament for 31 years and looked forward to it each year.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne, her son Tim and his children, Parker and Amanda. Her daughter, Tami (Ralph) Blanchard Llewellyn and their children, Paige Knain Blanchard, Liz (Nate) Gray and their daughter, Lillian, Brittany Llewellyn and Macey Llewellyn. She is also survived by a sister in law, Linda.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Linnea and brothe’rs Gerald and Bill. Memorial May be given to Hospice or Shanley High School.

Our heartfelt sympathies go out to the family and friends of Joanne. Tami was always telling a story about her mom, the love & lessons learned by this wonderful lady that you could not feel the love. Bison football has lost their biggest fan. Prayers lifted.

Oh, dear Joanne. How we love you. You who brought life to our days. That smile, that laugh, that little snicker as you crunched your nose when Wayne was about to treat you with something special. You have lived with grace, and you have left this life with grace. You have taught your children well, and they in turn have taught their children well. You are an honorable woman who we will never forget. I am blessed to have known you. Rest in peace and love.

    Dear Tami and family,

I’m so deeply sorry for your loss. I will never forget how you were there for me during my own time of loss and your kindness and love towards others is a testament to your mother, and how she raised you to be such a caring and thoughtful woman.

You, and your entire family, are in my heart, thoughts, and prayers. May you find peace and comfort in the many memories you have of your mom, and in the great love she had for all of you.

    All my love,
    Stephanie Reitan

i have known the Baldock family all of Joanne’s life. We went to the same school in Hunter. I loved her family and her Mom and my Mother were good friends. I always called her Joey and her brother was Billy to me. Billy always said only two girls called him Billy and they were both named Harriet. I will miss her dropping by the mall when she could along with Wayne. She was a lovely person all her life and the Baldocks were a big part of our home town. Wonderful family and I will miss you, Joey. R.I.P. Dear friend. Loved my memories when we were young.

I am so sorry to hear of Joanne’s passing. I am the sister of Lois Hovden who always spoke highly of her best friend. Together we shared prayers for Joanne and her family and will continue to do so. Although I may not be able to attend the final good-bye, I shall be there in spirit as I spend the time thinking of her family, asking God to bless you and bring you comfort as you rejoice in Joanne’s eternal rest in HIM.

My family was so lucky to have such a sweet and giving neighbor like Joanne. I have fond memories of Joanne always smiling and waving as I would ride my bike by their house as a little girl. I could always count on Joanne to be the first to buy girl scout cookies from me. I will deeply miss her friendly wave and smile when I’m back in the neighborhood. My thoughts and prayers are with Wayne, Tim, Tami and the family.
