Lance Donald LeClair of Fargo, ND died March 9, 2022 at the age of 39.
He was born on Sept 27, 1982 to Donald and Judy (Nieland) LeClair in Sioux City, IA. Lance spent the first years of his childhood in Huron, SD and moved to Fargo in second grade. He graduated high school from Fargo South in 2001 and then attended college at NDSU. He earned a bachelor’s degree in microbiology and pharmaceutical sciences as well as a doctorate in pharmacy in May of 2009. While in pharmacy school, he met and fell in love with Kristen Bjerken. They were married on November 15, 2008. After graduating they moved to Rochester, MN where they welcomed their first child, Chloe, in September of 2011. In 2014 they moved back to Fargo and welcomed their son, Carson, in May of 2016. Lance and Kristen divorced in 2020 but remained close friends.
Lance worked as a pharmacist in several pharmacies before opening his own pharmacy, LifeScript Pharmacy in south Fargo. He recently sold LifeScript and took a job with CVS where he worked in Fargo, Bismarck, Bemidji and Grand Forks.
From a young age Lance was an avid sportsman and loved fishing and hunting. He made many fishing trips to Alaska with family and friends, always bringing back great bounties of halibut and salmon. He hunted for deer every fall and loved the outdoors. He also enjoyed participating in annual fantasy football leagues, poker nights and fish fries. Lance was very social and affable by nature and never turned down a chance to gather with family or friends.
He will be remembered for a beautiful smile, charismatic personality and being a great friend.
Lance is survived by his children, Chloe and Carson LeClair, his mother, Judy (Nieland, LeClair) McCormick, his stepfather Thomas McCormick, his grandmother, Mary (Tasa) Nieland, his brother, Karl LeClair, his niece, Daisy LeClair, many aunts and uncles, cousins, step relatives and friends.
Lance is preceded in death by his father, Donald LeClair, his grandfather, Karl Nieland, his grandfather, Vernell LeClair, his grandmother, Junice LeClair, uncles Kevin LeClair, Terry LeClair and Jim Nieland.
There will be a prayer service for Lance Monday, March 14, 2022 at 7:00 pm with visitation starting at 6:00 pm at Boulger Funeral Home in Fargo. The funeral will take place Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at Hope Lutheran Church (south campus) at 11:00 am. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery following the funeral.

We are so very sorry to hear of Lance passing away. I enjoyed having Lance as a student in the pharmacy program at NDSU. He will be greatly missed. We will remember him and you in our prayers.
Roger and I are so sorry for your loss. Roger is going to miss his fishing buddy. Hopefully Roger can maybe take the kids fishing some day and tell them all about their dad and how much he loved them. Still can’t believe he’s gone.

I was so very sorry to hear about Lance’s passing. Please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers. My heart breaks for you all.
Lance was a student in my American Lit class at South High. He was always entertaining! I brought my old prom dress (from 1967!) to class because the girls wanted to see it. When I turned my back, Lance slipped it on over his clothes. It still brings a smile. He looked better in it than I did. So sorry to read of his passing.

I was just talking to Lance last week on Tuesday and then I didn’t hear from him again until I head this news today. Lance has been a friend of mine for a few years and was my pharmacist at LifeScripts. Things have gotten busy and even last week when I hadn’t talked to him in over a year he had a way of just picking things up where they left off. I’m thankful I was able to have that last conversation with him, but I’m sure going to miss that smile and those fish stories. You’ll be forever missed friend.

Lance was so proud of his kids. The last time I worked with him, he talked about how he was balancing work life to be more present in their lives. He wanted to be around more as a father and loved them very much. Hearing this news just breaks my heart as I feel that journey was cut short. He loved life and loved spending time with others. My thoughts and prayers go out with his family and friends during this difficult time.

Lance was my student in 7th grade Foreign Language Survey class at Agassiz. I remember him as being smart and well-behaved in school. Many years later I noticed a new pharmacy open up near my house. When I walked into LifeScript Pharmacy to transfer my prescriptions there, Lance was behind the counter and I recognized him instantly. While he was taller, Lance looked the same and I immediately knew his name. He told me how he had taken French class in the past and even spoke a few phrases with me. Lance explained to me that he had just opened LifeScript Pharmacy, because he wanted to have his own pharmacy with a hometown feel. I was one of his first customers and he truly made the pharmacy a welcoming place. In the first few months when he wasn’t very busy, I would go inside and chat with Lance when I picked up my medicine. He always talked so proudly about his children and his fishing trips. Once the pandemic hit, I would go through the drive-through to pick up my medicine and Lance would always give my dog a treat. He was so helpful whenever I would call with a question about a medication. I was very happy to reconnect with Lance after all these years and will miss his smile, concern for my health, and kindness. He truly cared about his customers and made a difference.

Even though we met early in 2019, we spent great times together. It was an instant click. I am so sad that I just don’t know when I’ll see you again. But I know I will. I love you very much.
I worked for Lance briefly at Lifescript Pharmacy. He was one of the best people I’ve had the privilege to work for. Sad to hear about his passing.
I was helping Lance with a roofing project and he made crappies for breakfast for Chloe and Carson and I…A first for me…Hell of a nice guy…Shocked that he is no longer with is…RIP
