Alden “Sonny” Bjorge passed away on Friday, May 15, 2015, at his home in Moorhead, surrounded by loved ones, and under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Alden “Sonny” Jerome Bjorge was born on February 19, 1945, the son of Ardell and Hazel (Sistad) Bjorge in Crookston, MN. He grew up on the family farm near Buxton, ND and attended Belmont #5 Country School. Sonny graduated from Climax High School in 1963. Following graduation he worked for the Farmers Union Oil Company in Cummings, ND. He proudly served his country in the United States National Guard from 1965 until 1971. Sonny was united in marriage to Donna Dufault on April 8, 1967 and they made their home in Champlin, MN where he worked for the State of Minnesota Highway Department for a number of years. In 1979 the family moved to Washington State. Most recently Sonny has made his home in Moorhead, MN and had worked for Amity Manufacturing until his recent retirement.  Throughout the years, Sonny loved spending days on the family farm, helping his siblings, with the farm work and especially loved the time in the sugar beet trucks. Sonny is survived by his life companion, Kathleen Zachary of Moorhead, MN; his son, Scott (Heather) Bjorge of Kennewick, WA; his daughter, Dana Barrow of Mesa, AZ; his eight grandchildren – Kayla, Kiya, Tracer, and Bryar Bjorge, and Victoria, Taylor, Tiah, and Preston Barrow; and one great grand daughter, Tatum Knight.  Also surviving is his mother, Hazel Bjorge of Grand Forks, ND; his siblings – Marlys Erickson of East Grand Forks, MN; Audrey (Merlyn) Nettum of Cummings, ND; Karlyn (Marv) Gunderson of Laguna Nigel, CA; Chyril (Vince) Goldade of Grand Forks, ND; Sandy (Jerry) Floberg of Dilworth, MN; David (Lenora) Bjorge; and Danny (Arlene) Bjorge, both of Buxton, ND; and several nieces and nephews. VISITATION: 5:00 -7:30 p.m. Friday, May 22, at the Wildeman-Boulger Funeral Home in Hillsboro, ND FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 23, at Ringsaker Lutheran Church near Climax, MN.  East of I-29 at Buxton exit 118 to Cty 2, then north to Belmont Park BURIAL: Ringsaker Church Cemetery

  5. Sunny was a great class mate for our 8 yrs. at Belmont no. 5. There were five of us and I have always valued those years as the best way to get a headstart in an education. Sunny comes from a great family and I always found him to be one of the nicest and friendliest people I have ever known.
