Alerd passed away on July 29, 2014 at Villa Maria in Fargo, with a very close friend, Al Filner, at his side.

Alerd was born on November 11, 1923, the son of Sam and Esther (Danielson) Clemenson in Horace, ND. He grew up in this area and received his education in Fargo. Alerd proudly served his country in the Unites States Army during WWII, from 1943 to 1945. He was stationed overseas and was wounded three times during his combat. He received three Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star for his dedicated service. Following his discharge, Alerd returned to North Dakota and began his long career in the Trucking industry. Alerd was united in marriage to Mae Anderson on March 5, 1946 in Moorhead, MN. After their marriage, they made their home in Fargo, later moving to Jamestown, Horace, and finally returning to Fargo where they spent their retirement years. Mae passed away on August 14, 2010. Alerd had most recently made his home with his son and daughter in law in West Fargo. He was able to stay there with the care he received from the VA, Good Samaritan and Hospice until July 25, 2014 when he entered Villa Maria.

Alerd is survived by his children - Terry (Mickie) Clemenson of Oshkosh, WI;  Steve  (Joey) Clemenson of West Fargo, ND; and Jeff (Vickie) Clemenson of Fargo, ND;  his grandchildren -  Shane (Dana) Juntunen of Orlando, FL; Colby (Ilea) Juntunen of Grand Rapids, MI; and Brandi Juntunen of Dilworth, MN; and his  great grandchildren -  Parker, Aiden and Savannah Juntunen, Noah, Brody and Reid Juntunen, and Lily and Lola Juntunen. Also surviving are his sisters, Claire Todahl and Doris Armistead; and many nieces, nephews, friends and very dear relatives. 

Alerd was preceded in death by his wife, Mae; his grandsons – Chad Juntunen, Brandt Juntunen and Jason Clemenson; and sisters – Evelyn Pederson Shirley Fugure and Marion Ulness.
