Alice Hill

Alice Hill, 74, of Fargo, died Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at Bethany Retirement Home, Fargo, ND. Alice Katheryn Martell was born November 30, 1943 in Minot, ND to Gregory and Helen Martell. She grew up in Drake, ND and West Fargo, ND. The family moved to Wild Rice, ND in 1950. She attended school in Wild Rice and Fargo and graduated from Fargo High School in 1962. She married John Hill in 1963. Alice was a stay-at-home mom until her children were in school and then worked for various television stations as the traffic manager/assistant program manager. She will always be remembered as someone who had a huge heart and was always there to lend a helping hand and be of service to others. She wanted her children to see first-hand how to reach out and care for their families and community. She was a fierce advocate for mental health rights and was awarded the YWCA Woman of the Year Award for Volunteer Service in 1986. Alice is survived by her children Heidi Bierdeman, Fargo, ND; and Matt (Bekki) Hill, Argusville, ND and five grandchildren: Kenny Bauer, Logan Bierdeman, Emily Hill, Sofia Hill and Ryan Hill. Preceding her in death were her parents and brother, Richard Martell. A Memorial Service will be held at on September 27, 2018, 11:00 AM at St Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Fargo. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the church on Thursday. Burial will be held at St. Benedict’s Catholic Cemetery, Wild Rice, ND.
