Allyn “Butch” Wayne Hanebuth, 86, of Big Toad Lake, Osage, MN, died Saturday, July 13, 2024 at the North Dakota Veterans Administration Hospital, Fargo.

Butch was born November 12, 1937 to John and Ruby (McLeod) Hanebuth in Ottertail, MN. The Hanebuth family moved from Buchanan Lake in Ottertail to Detroit Lakes in 1947 where he attended country school and continued his education at Frazee High School. After school, Butch served honorably in the United States Army from 1956-1958 and in the reserves from 1958-1964. Butch was united in marriage to Mary Cartwright, August 27, 1966 at Immanuel Lutheran Church near Shell Lake.

They lived their entire married life in Toad Lake Township, rural Osage. Butch was dedicated to his career and worked for White Earth Housing as a Carpenter for many years before later retiring.

He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the many days spent on the lake with his friends and family. Butch had a deep faith and lived his faith every day. Butch was also a faithful and dedicated member of AA with a sober date of April 23, 1992. He will always be remembered for his kindness, faithfulness, and smile. Butch has now reunited with his love of 55 years, Mary.

Butch is survived by his two daughters, Stacy (Gerald) Rohde of West Fargo, ND, Lisa Hanebuth (Ward) of Fargo, ND; six grandchildren, Tyrese Childs and Leyah, Leontry, and Mylee Ward, Madyson and Isabella Rohde; brother, Jim (Sandy) Hanebuth; and sisters in law, Hazel (Vernon) Lanctot of San Antonio, TX, Sara Boobar of San Antonio, TX.

Butch was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Lou; parents, John and Ruby; Stepmom, Hilda Hanebuth; brother, Jackie; and sister, Janice (Bob) Sonnenberg.

A memorial service will take place at 11 AM, July 20, 2024 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Shell Lake. Burial will take place at the church cemetery.
