Alpha Ottis

Alpha J. Ottis, 90, of Fargo, died Monday, October 31, 2005 in Bethany Homes, Fargo. Alpha J. Trangsrud was born on January 22, 1915 in Fargo to Axel and Meta (Olson) Trangsrud. She grew up in Fargo and graduated from Central High School. She earned her teaching degree from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks and taught in various locations, including Great Falls, Montana, Central High School in Fargo and later at Ben Franklin Jr. High School in Fargo. She married John G. Ottis on July 12, 1942 at First Lutheran Church in Fargo. Alpha loved to teach French and Latin and also to travel, having visited Europe 25 times. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her brother, Howard AAxel@ Trangsrud. She is survived by her children, John (Linda) of Moorhead, IA, Paul (Pam) of Hanover Park, IL, Julie Ottis (Neil Neddermeyer) of Maple Grove, MN, Linda (Steve) Bennett of Algonquin, IL and her grandchildren, Michael, Ryan, Amanda, Nina and Stacy. She will be missed by her family, friends and her Saturday evening bridge group. The family suggests memorials to the donor?s choice. The funeral service will be held on Friday, November 4 at 11:00 am in First Lutheran Church, Fargo. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the church.
