Join us as we celebrate the life of Andrew Clark Desharnais, a beloved son, brother, nephew, and friend, who passed away on February 20, 2024, after a courageous 8-year battle with brain cancer. Born on December 13, 1994, in Rochester, MN to parents David and Patricia Desharnais, Andrew had a passion for life and outdoor adventures.
Andrew graduated from Shanley High School in 2013 and embarked on various professional endeavors, from working at Corwin Automotive to OK Tire.
Throughout his life, Andrew found solace in the great outdoors, spending his days 4-wheeling, mudding, duck hunting, fishing, and anything outdoors. His culinary prowess was a marvel to behold, with his Pit Boss smoker being a centerpiece for creating delectable meals. Andrew’s love for friendship and laughter shone brightly during his “mudding” escapades at Vinny’s mud bog with his friend group that he cherished. To Boogs that was the true meaning of friends. His love for dogs showed through with Drake and Sadie.
Andrew’s compassionate spirit extended beyond his personal endeavors as he initiated “Funky Sock Friday” at the Roger Maris Pediatric Oncology Cancer Center, spreading cheer and positivity to those around him. Andrew’s entire medical team was something that made him feel so special, they took phenomenal care of him through every step of his “ride”.
Andrew is survived by his parents, Dave and Patty; brother, Tony, Jenna, Nevaeh, Gavin; many aunts and uncles, Don Kenna, Judy Thorstenson, Chris Leingang, Cindy Leingang, Howard and Mary Kenna, Connie and Mark Ostern, Jim and Nancy Melting; and all of his amazing cousins, Amy, Don, Willy, Jennie, Maggie, Jake, Mallory, Isaiah, Nick, Ollie, Maddie, Seth, Mason, Chris, Alex and Kellee.

Andy was Jacobs very first friend in Fargo. Riding by on his Harley bicycle, calling Jacob out for playing basketball. When Jacob retaliated with, “I’m a hockey player!” That cemented the friendship. Two redneck kindred spirits at the age of 12. We will never forget Andy’s passion for all things fun and adventurous! His beautiful laugh and smile. Wise beyond his years and pure joy to be around. God bless you Patty and Dave.
My heart is breaking for all of you. I will cherish the Angel hockey memories and will never forget State in Watford City!! Andy’s zest for life and contagious smile will truly be missed by all who know and love him.

My heart aches for all of you upon learning of Andy’s passing. When he was in my middle school classes, he always seemed like a big teddy bear with a smile on his face. I hope you find comfort in knowing Jesus has wrapped his loving arms around Andy in eternal glory! Patty, I look forward to giving you a big hug when I return from Mesa this spring. Blessings to all of you!
Dave and Patty,
We are very saddened to learn of Andy’s passing. Through these years of difficulty and challenges battling cancer, it sounds like he fought the good fight with with courage, compassion for others and a good dose of humor. We remember how Andy, at a young age, would step in after his own games and take charge of the Angel’s concession stands to help us in our shifts with whatever we needed. He was always happy, helpful and so much fun to be around! Our heart breaks for your loss and may God bless you and your family during this very sad time.
