Angeline Dimitroff was born October 29, 1927 in Detroit Michigan. As a small child her family went for a visit to their homeland Greece. Due to war and other conflicts during that time Angie and her family were unable to come back to the states so she grew up in a small village called Salonika. She was immersed in the culture, ate the food and spoke the language. At the age of 18 Angie’s mother gave a farmer several gold coins in an effort to smuggle Angie and her brother Dimitri (Jimmy) out of war torn Greece to the safety of the United States. Not long after her arrival she met the love of her life Nick Nicoloff. When she came back to the U.S. she did not speak English and hated the food. Fortunately, that did not deter the couple from marrying on November 3, 1946. The couple lived in Chicago, Detroit, Minneapolis before they finally settled in Fargo. Thankfully, she was able to learn to speak English and her taste buds came accustomed to U.S. cuisine. Together they had 5 children and the couple prided themselves as a big Greek family. Nick owned Eagle shoe repair in downtown Fargo and Angie was a stay at home mom who kept many family traditions alive. She was a fabulous cook. Her specialty was Greek food. Unfortunately, Nick died unexpectedly in 1970 leaving Angie a widow with three children at home and no income. Determined to keep her family together, Angie learned to read and write English and got her CNA license. She spent most of her career at Elim in Fargo. She worked there until her son Bill was tragically killed in a plane crash in 1994. She was only retired for a short time as she went back to Elim after the OJ Simpson trial. She was bored and needed to keep busy. She was at Elim for a few more years then went on to work at Rosewood Nursing Home in Fargo and Serenity in Dilworth. At the young age of 79 she officially retired from a wonderful career of taking care of others. In 2011 her beloved daughter Deb died after a short illness. Deb was one of the most important people in Angie’s life as they lived together and were best friends. Even though Angie suffered a lot of tragedies in her life she never stopped living. Anyone who knew her, knew her love for a good glass of wine. And that love of wine kind of made her internet famous. Angie spent many a Sunday afternoon “day drinking” wine with her daughter in law. Those days were chronicled on Facebook with the hashtag Sundaydaydrinkingwithyaya. Angie had quite the following. She was a tiny woman with a big spirit. She was also one tough lady. After all the hardship in her life she was able to live on her own until a nasty fall required her to move into Elim in 2023. Her life came full circle on Monday June 10, 2024 when she drew her last breath.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Jimmy, sister Lizora, husband Nick, son Bill and daughter Deb.
She is survived by her children Darlene Nicoloff, Denise (Daryl) Hansen and Dan (Danette) Nicoloff, and grandchildren Darren Fendrick, Dustin Fendrick, Liana Hansen, Lauren Hansen, Nickole Hansen, Layla Nicoloff, Alana Nicoloff, great grandchild, Rheagan Stanfield and great great grandchild, Myles Stanfield.
Angie’s family would like to thank the staff at Elim and the staff of Hospice of the Red River Valley. We thank you for the kindness and care she received so she could spend her last days with dignity.

God comfort you and your family!
Angie was a very special friend and coworker for many years. Anyone who met her loved her. She touched more lives than most people will ever know in a lifetime. She had a never ending love for everyone especially her family and friends. A heart of gold and an amazing sense of humor. One of a kind for sure. She will be greatly missed by many! Love you Angie!
I only met Angie 12 years ago but I am grateful for the time we had. A special memory is the day she tried to teach Jone and I how to make baklava. I have never tried to repeat that complicated process, nor have I ever again purchased baklava because it could never match hers.
The last time I had the pleasure of visiting Angie was when I was in Fargo last Sept. Jone and I brought her pizza at Elim, one last meal together after all our meals at The Shack.
On so many of our visits Angie made me promise to attend her funeral but knee replacement last week has made that impossible. I’m sad to break that promise but I will be there in spirit, and she will always be in my heart.
I got to know Angie by delivering Meals on Wheels. What a blessing she was to me. Always witty, loving and glad to see me, and I don’t think it was always the food that I delivered. We were able to have pizza a few times together and when I arrived with it, the first thing she said was, “Where’s the wine?”
I missed her when I was taken off her route and becaused of the locked building doors, lost touch with her.
Angie was an angel on earth and now she is with her loving family and is an angel in heaven.
God Bless her soul and Blessings to her family.
