Anita C. Bjornstad

Anita C. Bjornstad, age 83, of Moorhead, Minnesota, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 10th, 2025, at Essentia Health of Fargo, ND.

Anita was born on March 9th, 1941, to Louis and Cecelia (Schmit) Gebeke in Casselton, ND. Her family relocated to Fargo, ND where she attended St. Anthony’s Catholic School, and graduated from Central High School. Anita met the one and only love of her life, Loren Bjornstad, in 1956 for the first time. They later married on July 12th, 1958 in Day County, SD. Together, they had four daughters. They resided in Lodi, CA, for a few years before making their permanent home back in Fargo, ND in 1968.

Anita was a homemaker, first and foremost, but did work for 21 years at Fargo Assembly. Anita loved the time she spent with her siblings, nieces and nephews, husband and children throughout the years during all of their adventures while camping. She loved to sing while listening to her brother in law, Les, play guitar, and enjoyed her daughters growing up with so many cousins. Becoming a grandmother was one of the greatest titles she could hold, and she would tell anyone that. One thing she loved and missed doing so much was when the moment and song were right, she would dance the two step with her husband. Anita never turned down a crossword puzzle or reading a good novel, and would watch any true crime documentary start to finish. Everyone will surely remember Anita for her sense of fashion and appreciation for sparkle.

She is survived by her daughters, Tami Brainerd of Fargo, ND; Teri Bjornstad of Mt. Dora, FL; and Patricia (Tim) Dahlsad of Horace, ND; grandchildren, Justin Vogel of Fargo, ND; Tyler (Carrie) Brainerd of Fargo, ND; Tianne (Marcus) Burdick of Moorhead, MN; Ethan (Cassie) Dahlsad of Moorhead, MN; and Ariana (Mark) Messerschmidt of Rothsay, MN; sister, Jean Lind of Altoona, PA; brother, David (Judy) Gebeke of Albuquerque, NM; sister in law, Ione (Ronald) Gebeke of Fargo, ND; eight great grandchildren; and copious nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Loren; her parents, Louis and Cecelia; her daughter, Lori Roth; her grandson, Jesse Brainerd; her two brothers, Norman Gebeke, and Ronnie Gebeke; and her three sisters, Nancy (Harlan) Beckstrom, Luann (Les) Hirchert, and Shirley (Ronnie) Wambach.

Visitation will be held at Boulger Funeral home on February 15th, 2025 at 9:00am with a Celebration of Life to follow at 10:00am.

An intimate burial ceremony will be held to inter the ashes of Loren and Anita at a later date.
