Anna (Obermiller) Kiebke
September 19, 1943 ~ April 30, 2026
Born in:
Fargo, North Dakota
Resided in:
Fargo, North Dakota
Anna passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at Heather’s House HIA Hospice in Fargo, at the age of 82.
Anna Helen Obermiller was born on September 19, 1943, the daughter of Paul and Alvina (Kohoutek) Obermiller, in Fargo, ND. She grew up in Fargo where she received her education in the Catholic School network, graduating from Shanley High School.
Anna is survived by her husband, Bill “Butch” Kiebke of Fargo; her three children – Zachary (Richard Hopkins) Kiebke of Glenolden, PA; Amy Kiebke of Fargo; and Joseph “Joe” (Jamie) Kiebke of West Fargo, ND; and her grandson, Erik Emerson. Also surviving is her brother, Paul “Earl” (Kathy) Obermiller of Fargo; and several nieces and nephews.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Alvina; and her sisters – Gloria Cook Peterson and Lois Neer.
Ann was known as a loving wife and mother to her children, including all of the “8th Street Gang” providing a welcoming home that was always open to all who visited from pop-in coffee talks to big gatherings that always were accompanied by great food (especially that potato salad!). As a devoted Catholic, Anna was a member of Holy Spirit Church for over 50 years. She also worked in the administrative office as the assistant to the Director of Religious Education for 10 years as well as coordinating funeral arrangements. She was known for her deep compassion and caring to the survivors of the funeral families.
A highlight in her and Bill’s life was following their son, Joe’s hockey playing for all those years from Squirts to Fargo North High School, becoming “Hockey nuts” gaining a life time of friends and road trip memories along the way. Ann also loved Arizona and all the fun it was visiting her son, Zac, and the other friends and relatives there escaping North Dakota’s dreaded long winters. Ann also cherished her yearly mother and daughter excursions during their birthday month of September, visiting different regional towns and festivals. It was their special time to look forward to and plan year after year. Anna was a grandma to her only grandson, Erik, who she so adored and held tight. Anna was very blessed with a large number of very close friends with some even from her school days. Like Anna they all shared the love to get out of the house and have fun, “do something,” girls get aways, and of course lunch and lots of catching up with a Fresca on ice, Blue Moon or “maybe just one” strawberry margarita 🙂 She will be deeply missed and life a little less fun.

From potluck in grade school to swimming at rose Lake in high school to our families camping in our 30’s to playing bingo in our 80’s we had a lot of fun. She will be missed.
She was one of my first friends when I got to Fargo. Such a wonderful lady. Fly high with those new angel wings you already had the long white robe and your halo; She will be missed Jenny Osborn.
Thoughts and prayers go out to Bill and family. Ann you will be missed at the Senior Center, playing cards with us all, and seeing you at the “The Shack” restaurant. Keith & Peggy.
Such wonderful memories of playing house, dressing up, preparing meals for our families, and sharing our lives.
What a dear friend.
I love you, Ann!
Joe,
I was very sorry to read of your mother’s passing.
God Bless,
From high school days, weekend get-togethers at Rose Lake, meeting in Alex from Fargo and me from twin cities and in our 70’s my visits to Fargo from Arizona to catch up, laugh about old times. She will be missed.
From potluck days in high school, times at Rose Lake, times in Alexandria shopping and visiting classmates to our later years where we played bingo, cards, sopping, lunches, movies and visits with home bound friends. I will miss you so much
She looks exactly the same as I remember her… Love and all my best wishes to the family
My love and sympathies to you all-Bill, Zach, Joe, Amy and Erik. I had the pleasure of knowing and working with Anna at Holy Spirit Church for many years. More than that, we were friends and shared many good times and lots of laughs. I feel so blessed to have had a wonderful telephone visit with her in those last days if April. I am sad to be far away and unable to be there to pray with you, but happy I could send my voice. Eternal rest grant unto Anna O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her. Love-Cece
