Anna Rath

Anna Rath, age 93, Fargo, ND, died Monday, August 21, 2006 at Manor Care Health Services, Fargo. Anna Rath was born January 7, 1913, at Orrin, ND, the daughter of Leonard and Julia Wentz. She grew up on a farm near Orrin and attended school there. Anna and Lloyd Myklethum were married and they had two daughters, Janet and Jean. She married Carl W. Rath on September 25, 1934 in Balta, ND. The couple lived on a farm north of Munich, ND for a time, then moved to a farm near Clyde, ND. They lived there from 1942-1957 at which time they moved to a farm near Sarles, ND. Carl retired in 1968 and they moved into Sarles. Anna worked as a cook at Border Central Schools, in Sarles for 13 years, retiring in 1988. She also worked as a seamstress. She was a past president and active member of the Ladies Auxiliary in Clyde and Sarles. She is survived by four daughters, Janet McArthur, Munich, ND, Carol Jean Downs, Black Hawk, SD, Phyllis Rath-Salacinski, Livingston, MT and Kathleen (Martin) Smith, Fonda, NY; three sons, William (Helen) Rath, Grand Forks, ND, Leonard (Inez) Rath, Fargo, ND, and John Bruce (Leelee) Rath, Mandan, ND; two sisters, Lillian (Shirley/Bud) Olson, Minot, ND and Elsie (Leonard) Bielski, Lowell, IN; 24 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren. Anna was preceded in death by her husband Carl in 1980; a son, Vernon; sons-in-law, Lynn McArthur and Woodrow Downs; 5 brothers; and 5 sisters.
