Ardis Hatlen Miller, 94, died at Bethany Homes, Fargo, on Thursday, March 17, 2005. Ardis Ocella Thompson was born August 7, 1911, at her parent?s farm, near Rollag, MN, the daughter of Theodore and Clara Thompson. Ardis moved to Fargo where she met and married Oliver Hatlen in 1931. Ardis and Oliver were married for 28 years until his death in 1959. Their son, Vince (Carol), is a Professor of Architecture at NDSU. Ardis? two granddaughters are Beth (Jon) Elliott, Minnetonka, MN, and Meg (Peter) Gag, Moscow, ID. Ardis married Arthur Miller in 1961. They made their home on a farm near Durbin, ND, until 1978 when they moved to Fargo. They moved to Bethany Homes in 1997. Art died in 2000. Ardis was a member of St. John?s Lutheran Church, Durbin, ND. Ardis was a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, making chokecherry jelly and cookies for her granddaughters. She was happiest while opening her kitchen and heart to her family, friends and neighbors. She was dearly loved and will be deeply missed. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Vince and Carol; granddaughters Beth and Meg, and their husbands, Jon and Peter; and by her brother, Clayton of Anderson, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Roy. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 22, 2005, at Bethany Homes, Mavis Whiting Chapel, 201 South University Drive, Fargo, ND. Visitation will be held one hour before the service in the chapel. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Fargo, ND. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Fredrikson Funeral Chapel, Kindred, ND.
