Arla “Penny” Mae Brown, 75, passed away September 14, 2022 at Halstad Care Center, Halstad, MN formerly of Leonard, ND.
Penny was born August 11, 1947 to Arnold and Audrey Nelson. She grew up in Fargo and graduated from Central High School before graduating in 1965. Penny worked as a nurses aid at St. Luke’s Hospital, Fargo. She married Cleo brown May 16, 1970 and they made their home in Leonard, ND where they raised their four children. She was active in the community clubs and also was a member of the Leonard First Responders. She will be missed by many.

Penny is survived by her children, Corey Brown, Jodie Brown; two grandsons; sister, Joan Nelson; brothers, Don (Karen), Arvon (Diana), David (Theresa); sister-in-law, Patricia Porgorzelski; and many nieces and nephews.
Penny was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Audrey Nelson; husband, Cleo Brown; daughter, Jaime Brown; son, Nicholas Brown; and several in-laws.

A special thanks for the care Penny received at Halstad Care Center and Hospice of the Red River Valley.

  2. Cleo & family, You all have our sincere sympathy for the loss of Penny. I remember seeing Penny several times on ambulance calls in and around Leonard. She was always pleasant and had the most concern for the patient. I will always remember her and may she Rest In Peace.

  3. Jodie and Corey, I’m so sorry to hear about your Mom. We shared many fun times teaching Preschool CCD at St Leo’s, lots of conversations, stories, laughs, and tears throughout the years.
