Arleen’s Live Streamed Memorial Service can be viewed below starting shortly before her service:

Arleen, 85 years young, passed away peacefully on May 1st under the compassionate care of the nurses and staff at Sanford Hospice House. Our family will be forever grateful to each one of them for how expertly and lovingly they cared for her in both body and spirit over the last seven months. She loved them all and so do we.

Arleen was preceded in death by her beloved husband Chuck, son John, her parents Oscar and Ann Bauer, sisters Carol Bertsch and Arvilla Schlaack.

She is survived by daughters Kristi (Jay) Kirkeby and Stacey (John) Eichenberger. Six grandchildren, Laura (John) Bright, Michael and Joseph Kirkeby, Jacob (Paige) Eichenberger, Maxwell (Sarah Tolman) Eichenberger, and Isaac Eichenberger. Seven great grandchildren, Zayden, Olivia, Myles, Emberly, Marlee, Charles, and Ezra.

Arleen and Chuck grew up in the Dakotas, lived in Valley City, then moved to Moorhead, MN where they lived and raised their family. Together they owned and operated Dakota Pharmacy in Hettinger, ND where they lived and played for 25 years. Arleen and Chuck eventually moved to Fargo to retire closer to family. Every place they called home produced wonderful friends and lots of great times as Arleen had a gift for befriending everyone she met! She loved to cook and entertain, play bridge, and hunt and fish alongside Chuck. Arleen loved to sing and dance and enjoyed a good martini! She was a Team Maker and avid NDSU Bison fan who never missed a game.

Most importantly Arleen was a wonderful Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother. She took a very active role in the lives of her “grands” and her legacy will live on in them for generations to come.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Arlene is resting in the hallow of our Lord JesusChrists hands! She intimated to us during our last in-person visit, she was ready, and felt at ease in her faith! Amen
You will continue to be miss’d by us”Mack’s and especially by our Mainecoon Kat FitzWalter!” Arlene asked many times to take care of him, enjoyed checking in on him, she said many times…he uses his box too much!
With that said, we love you, your family and the “Frisch’s” will continue to be family!
    Our sincerest of condolences
    XSKLW

  2. What can I say about one of my best friends? She was my next door neighbor, kind and generous, loved cooking and baking. I miss our coffee and martini breaks, conversations on the phone ( many times daily), visits in the yard as we worked in our gardens, going for ice cream on any given day and especially when she had a 2 for 1 coupon, talking politics, chasing rabbits out of our yards. There are so many, many more memories that I hold dear in my heart. Yes, I have missed Arlene for some time now, miss her still but happy she is finally at rest and at peace in her heavenly home.

    Love,
    Lucy

  3. The neighborhood has missed Arlene since the day she moved to assisted living. She was loved by everyone in the neighborhood. I miss Arlene’s smile and our chats. In talking to Arlene, it was evident that she loved her family and that she was so proud of her children and grandchildren. She was so funny, witty, and kind-hearted, but yet a little feisty and stubborn! I can still remember the day when she fell off a ladder in her garage because she was too stubborn to ask for help. She was bound and determined to do it herself. Well, she fell and hit her pretty good and the ambulance ended up coming. As she was on the stretcher being put into the ambulance one of her grandchildren pulled up and came running to the ambulance. Arlene only had one thing to say to her …… “Tell your mother I am not going to the nursing home!” And she didn’t either!

Rest in peace Arlene. You will be missed by so many. I hope and pray you have been reunited with your husband and son.

    • Absolutely Arlene! Yes, our neighborhood was minus a Lady who enjoyed baking, spoiling everyone! I let her spoil Doc aka Kyle after Chuck’s passing, this gave me great joy to nurture her relationship with my husband! I even asked him to run in our weekly surprises at St.Luke’s Hospice #261! I wanted Doc to reach out often! The Frisch’s and Mack’s started Woodhaven 47th when there was just dirt, human sized weeds! Godbless our beautiful neighborhood! KyleC & Sarah have been a wonderful addition all these years, smiles, waves, helping hands without hesitation! Thanku, we will forever be grateful XSami Dr.Mack

  4. Arlene was our neighbor across the street. She and Chuck watched our kids grow up and were the BEST neighbors. I remember when were were teaching one of our boys to ride bike…he was trying and trying to get going. When he finally started balancing on two wheels we heard clapping and cheering – Chuck & Arlene were across the street cheering him on with Pepper right by their side! Our little piece of the neighborhood will never be the same. Thank you for being such a bright light. Give Chuck our love and Pepper and big scratch behind his ears from us.

  5. How many people can say they know their good friends Mother and Father that lives in another state 4+ hours away. Such is the case with Arlene and Chuck. Gracious, fun, game for an event, beaming about their grandchildren. That gleam in her eye in this picture captures so well her love for life and those around her. May her joy and love comfort your whole family and friends as she goes home with Chuck and her Savior.

  6. I’m so sorry to hear of your Mom’s death, Kristi. I remember coming over to your house when I was a kid, and your Mom was so much fun. I’m thinking about you and your family and I know how hard it is.
    Jenny (Samson) Erickson

  7. I am so sorry for your loss. I loved your mom and dad. They played bridge with my folks all the time in Moorhead, I worked at Foss Drug while in highschool, and I loved babysitting you three! I remember playing anti-anti-i-over for hours in the early evening with you!

She was a special, lovely lady!

    Joyce (Bauer) Lightowler

  8. I am so sorry for your loss, Kristi and Stacey, but am comforted that she is with your Dad again. I immediately think back to all the fun times we had during market in the Twin Cities. It was so much fun to be with your Mom and Dad and MaryAnn and Gerry. Lots and lots of laughing, that’s for sure! Hopefully, the joyful memories that you have too will sustain you during this sad time. Losing your Mom is hard.

Blessings as you celebrate her life!
    Pat & Bill Hansen

  12. Such fun memories of Arlene..especially when she and friend Rite Reick Wolf Ritter pulled off being “Trixie” and “Bubbles “, go go dancers visiting in Eureka. Sending prayers to all her family now and in the trying days ahead.

  13. Arleen was my seat buddy on the bus part of Frisco team maker flight during two of my trips to see the Bison play. (My husband was a host and had to sit up front and man the tunes) Arleen, Jerry and Mary Ann became dear to us and were incredible examples to share stories of their lifelong friendship. I felt I knew Chuck within minutes of meeting Arleen. To think she’s now safe in the arms of Jesus alongside her beloved husband is a beautiful thing. May Jesus comfort all who are grieving this dynamo of a gal. I look forward to seeing her again.

  14. We were so sorry to hear of Arlene’s passing. We sure enjoyed sitting behind her (and Chuck) at the Bison football games for many years. For a tiny lady, she sure could yell! We’ll miss her smile and all the touchdown high fives. Sending our sympathies to you all.

  15. I did not know that Arleen Frisch had passed on — she was a dear friend and now is with her family in heaven. Expressing my sympathy to the Family — God bless you with comfort and peace, Sincerely, Janice Schnabel, Ashley, ND
