Arthur F. Swift, age 78, Staples, MN, formerly of Wendell, MN, died Friday, April 16, 2004, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND.
Arthur Swift was born February 23, 1926, in Wendell, MN, the son of Arthur T. Swift and Goldie Corwin Swift. He was raised in Wendell. Arthur was united in marriage to Dorothy M. Bullis on October 2, 1948. They raised 10 children together on the family farm near Wendell. Dorothy passed away in 1990. Arthur married Maureen McAllister in 1993. She passed away in 1996. He sold the family farm in 2000 and moved to Staples, where he resided until the time of his death. He wintered in Mission, TX, from 1993-2003.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur T. Swift and Goldie Corwin Swift; one daughter, Margaret Ann; his wife Dorothy; and second wife Maureen.
He is survived by his best friend and companion of eight years, Dolores A. Johnson; nine children, Leanne Anderson (Ron) of Sioux Falls, SD, Julie Swift of Fergus Falls, MN, Nancy Blake of Fargo, Kristine Swift (Bruce) of Duluth, MN, Thomas Swift (Karen) of Fargo, Susan Wick of Kent, WA, Paul Swift of Moorhead, MN, Patty Johnson (Robyn) of Duluth, and Pamela Cales (John) of Athol, ID; one sister, Lois Johnson (Herb) of Cottonwood, AZ; 15 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; one niece; and one nephew.
Art will be remembered for all his years of farming and working construction while helping Dorothy raise nine children on the family farm, his favorite pasttime and love of dancing from the Eagles Club in Fergus Falls to the VFW in Wadena. He will be greatly missed by his family, relatives, and all those special friends in and around the Wadena/Staples area, his ?Breakfast Club? buddies.
The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. in Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo. Visitation will be Sunday from 5-8 p.m. in Boulger Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Burial will be in Wendell, MN.
