Axel Erickson

Axel O. Erickson, age 78 of Fargo died Monday, January 26, 2004 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Fargo. Axel O. Erickson was born October 4, 1925 to Sven and Martha (Swenson) Erickson at Alvarado, MN. He attended Alvarado Schools until 1942 and then moved to Elbow Lake, MN and graduated from Elbow Lake High School in 1944. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy and served until 1946, when he was honorably discharged. In 1948 he married Cleone Hoff at Alvarado, MN. They lived at Elbow Lake and Norcross, MN until 1954 when they moved to Fargo where Axel was a Meat Market Manager. In 1959 they moved to Oakes, ND where he worked in Meat Management. He lived in the Oakes area until 1974 when he returned to West Fargo. He married Eunice Herbranson in 1988. They resided in West Fargo where he was employed with Fargo Packing, retiring in 1988. He loved to play baseball and basketball, go hunting and fishing and was active in the Oakes Volunteer Fire Department. He was preceded in death by his son, Douglas; his parents; 3 brothers and 3 sisters. He is survived by his wife, Eunice of Fargo; son, Daryl (Ethel) Erickson of Oakes, ND; daughter, Rebecca (Jeff) LeDoux of Fargo; step-daughters, Tammy Hofius of Perham, MN and Rolanda (Chris) Lehse of Fargo; 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
