Barbara Lee Troy, age 68, of West Fargo, ND was given her eternal wings October 4, 2021. Barb was born in 1953 to Robert "Bob" and Betty Akre in Grand Rapids, MN. Barb graduated from Grand Rapids High School in 1971 and went on to graduate from Minnesota State University – Morehead. She majored in nursing with a minor in sociology. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Fargo, ND. Barb excelled in her nursing career as a registered nurse. She thoroughly enjoyed caring for the geriatric population. She had a special way with her residents and their families as well as her coworkers. She was a hard worker, who knew how to make work fun. She will be remembered for her quick wit, jokes she played and for having a heart of gold. Once retired, Barb continued to keep busy by picking up and watching her grandchildren after school. She was known as "Nannie" by her grandchildren. She cherished the bond she had with them and loved them greatly. She volunteered at and routinely donated to the Home Bound Animal Shelter. Barb was also active in her church. Barb enjoyed the simple things in life and valued the relationships she made. She enjoyed shopping, warm weather, spending time with the ones she loved, and making others laugh. She was an avid animal lover who enjoyed her special friend, her chihuahua Elliott. Barb was a kind, genuine soul, with a giving heart, who always put everyone's needs before her own. She often used humor to help herself and others to get through difficult times. She was admired for her determination, strength and ability to get through anything. She will never be forgotten and will forever be known to her family as, "a real-life superhero"! Preceded in death by her parents Robert and Betty Akre. 1. Barb troy was the most enjoyable person you could ever ask for, working with her through staff at villa made the day go by so fast and fun, im goin to miss her so much, she was always the kind of person who would never sit around always gone doin something with her residentes, she made my day just by saying hi how’s it goin today, my reaction was just another day in paradise lol, but anyways to keep it short and sweet Barb troy you will always be missed thank you for being you.

  2. My dear cousin Barb was a tender and strong lady. She inherited the comical wit of her father, and a flare of fashion from her mother. She loved her children dearly and her pets fiercely. I will miss her so.

  3. Barb will be missed by all,.
She was like a sister to me ,we got to be pretty close..
She was the kind of a person that had the most beautiful and amazing smile, oh did I say hugs. We loved that. I would go down the hall to see her and Elliott all the time, sit there a have a pop with her. Picked up her pkgs for her.
She a Nannie to my grandchildren to.
Hunter would see Nannie come home he would run out and get her pkgs and make sure she got in the apt safe.
Addy would run to and Barb would open the door and Elliott would be with Addy.
We sure miss her we go out of our apt and look down the hall and her decor is off her door, kinda sad.
But her memories will be here forever
Her family has treated us like family.
Love you Sarah, Jeremy, and the girls will also miss seeing you here..
    Love you Barb.
    Love Hunter
    Love Addy.
Love Miracle when she was here.
    RIP MY SISTER.
    RIP Hunter and Addy’s nannie
One more thing Addy said Nannie is going to miss Elliott, she said I think Elliott misses her very much that was his mommy. ❤ 💙 💜 💖 💗 💘 ❤

  4. I had the pleasure of working with Barb at Villa Maria.
She was not only “true to her Profession “, but fun to work with, so good to the Residents and their families!
Barb loved giving nicknames to co-workers, Residents, friends, as well as family members😳
Barb and I had a love, hate relationship when it came to organization of the Nurses Station. To say I had OCD to the max, and Barb loved working in Organized Chaos.
I asked Barb, if she was going to give me a nickname, that it would be a nice nickname. Well, from what I was told by Barb, when I asked how I got the nickname of “Fluffy”, the answer was because of my constant cleaning/fluffing of the Nurses Station.
The nickname “Fluffy “ took off like hot cakes, that even Residents knew me as Fluffy.
Barb was a Spitfire, and I was truly Blessed to have worked along side of her, and to call her my friend!
    Sending condolences to Barb’s family.
Until we meet again, R.I. P.

    Carolyn Overbye (Fluffy).
