Barbara Deibert “Sister Mary Virginia” Barbara was born on December 9, 1935 the third oldest child of Peter and Marguerite (Lucier) Deibert in Fargo, ND. She attended grade school at St. Mary’s Cathedral and graduated from Sacred Heart - Shanley High School in 1953. One week after graduation, she entered the order of the Sisters of Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary and took the name, Sister Mary Virginia. She taught grade school at St. Mary’s and Holy Spirit. Then in 1964 she received her degree in Art and Spanish from the College of St. Scholastica, Duluth, MN and went on to teach high school at St. Alphonsus in Langdon, ND, St. James Academy in New Rockford, ND, and Shanley High School, Fargo, ND. Among her achievements during convent life and teaching were designing a logo for the Sisters and designing the Shanley logo. After leaving the order in 1975, Virginia worked for Shotwell Floral, Olaf Anderson & Son Construction Co., Ameripride Linen and Apparel, Inc., and RiverView Place. Virginia was a founding member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in West Fargo, ND working as part of the team that formed the by-laws and organized the church. She was the first volunteer liturgy director. She served many years on the parish council. She was a choir member, lector, and minister of communion among the many other volunteer activities over the years. She enjoyed taking care of her yard and gardening. She was an avid sports fan. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to raise the height of the bell tower at Holy Cross Catholic Church/ Lutheran Church of the Cross. She is survived by her siblings: Bernard (Aurelie) Deibert, Waco, TX, Richard (Carey) Deibert, Penhold, Alberta, Canada, Sylvia Cunningham, Westlake, OH, William (Mindy) Deibert, Henning, MN, Mary Sweeney, Novato, CA, Eugene (Bonnie) Fargo, ND, Gregory (Barbara) Deibert, Kalamazoo, MI, and James (LuAnn) Deibert, Fargo, ND, 30 nieces and nephews, 48 great nieces and nephews, and 2 great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Thomas Peter. Visitation: There will be a visitation from 5-7 with a prayer service at 7 on Sunday, October 18 in Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo and one hour prior the service in the church on Monday. Funeral Mass: There will be a funeral mass starting at 10 on Monday, October 19 in Holy Cross Catholic Church, West Fargo. Interment: Holy Cross North Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo.
