Bernard Paul Leclerc Sr.

bernard leclerc

Bernie Leclerc Sr. died peacefully on November 15, 2023 at the age of 87. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Roberta Peterson Leclerc. His kids are Bernie Jr. (Joanne), Lisa, Ann (Paul), Robert (Jolene), and Renee (Tommy). His grandkids are Paige and Grayson, his great grandkid is Christopher. He has step grands, step great grands and he has a grand puppy, Charlie.

His parents were Lawrence Leclerc Sr. and Clara Hoss Leclerc . His siblings are Dan Leclerc (Bev), Judy Ertsgaard (Denny), Jane Bietz (Doug) and the late Lawrence Leclerc Jr along with his wife Kay.

Born and raised in Fargo, Bernie was a baseball enthusiast (player and coach), artist, funny guy, bird watcher, lifelong friend to many and enemy to none, except squirrels. Above all he was loved. Our deepest gratitude to Sanford Hospice House, Bethany on 42nd and Meals on Wheels. A special shout out to Joel at Graver Barbers and Boppa’s Bagels.

No traditional funeral for this guy. He wants us to enjoy a party full of laughter and memories of a good life, just not during a Twins game.

Guestbook

  1. My heartfelt sympathies go out to you, Roberta, and to your entire family. There was a lot of history years ago between some of your children and some of mine. My heart is sad…he was a wonderful man and I know you will miss him so much! Sending you love.

  2. Roberta and family. We are so sorry to hear of Bernie’s passing. Our prayers and hugs are with all of you at this difficult time. Bernie and Larry were the 2 people that gave me the courage to go on to get my insurance license. If it hadn’t been for those 2 I would not have completed my test. Bernie was always encouraging to do what you put your mind too. If you need anything please let us know.

  3. To the Leclerc family. I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I always enjoyed Bernie during and after my little league years. He always had a smile on his face.

  4. Appreciate the way Bernie wanted to be remembered… a party full of laughter and memories. No surprise there given his low-key nature. I know the party has come and gone. Hope it went well. Had I been there, I would have lobbied to have everyone sing “On Eagles Wings” (that is everyone else singing but me). That song sung at Lawrence’s funeral is still etched in my mind to this day… one of the most profound memories I have of any funeral I’ve attended. Wish I could have been at the party. Hard to see family passing and be stuck out in Montana.
