Bessie Tornell

Bessie Tornell, born August 22, 1915, in Lawrence, Mass., died at her home Thursday, August 21, 2003, under Hospice care. The daughter of John and Anstasia Ostapchuk, she was raised in Lawrence, Mass. She married Clifford Tornell on January 20, 1946. A seamstress and dressmaker, she worked for the U.S. Army research center in Natick, Mass. They lived in Massachusetts until 1958 when they moved to Forest Lake, Minn. She moved to Fargo in 1998, living first at Riverside Place and then with her son Glenn Tornell and daughter-in-law Donna Tornell. She was an avid painter and astrologer and sang with the Silver Follies. She is survived by her son Glenn Tornell and daughter-in-law Donna Tornell; her grandchildren Darcy Peterson and her husband Jeff, Cliff Tornell and Adam Tornell, all of Fargo; and her great grandchild Danielle; and her sister Ann Richards, Bedford, N.H. She was preceded in death by her husband Cliff; brother John Ostapchuk; and sister Mary Norton. A private family service is planned. Arrangements by Boulger Funeral Home.
