Beverly (Berg) Hagen, 86, passed away peacefully on February 29, 2024, after a long journey with Alzheimer’s.
Beverly was born on her Berg grandparents’ farm table on September 23, 1937. She raised on Franz and Myrtle (Lura) Berg’s farm a mile away in Sioux Trail Township, ND, along with her two sisters (Lorraine and Myrna) and one brother (Ellis). She lived a very active, full life with her beloved husband of 61 years, Arvin Hagen. They had three children – Allan (Marla) Hagen, Cindy (Darrel) Lukas, and Brent (Michele) Hagen – who produced six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Bev lived in North Dakota, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Illinois due to her husband’s 34-year career with Deere & Co.
Bev’s life was filled with family and friends, 26 summers at the lake, attending MANY functions with Arvin, bargain-hunting, churchgoing, creating, dancing, decorating, entertaining, gardening, guitar-playing, having fun, helping others, housekeeping, laughing, learning, modeling, moving, organizing & planning events, reading, sewing, singing, traveling, and most of all, working. She has looked forward to rejoining her husband, Arvin, who died in 2015 due to complications from dementia.
A celebration of Bev’s life will occur in Fargo, ND, on May 4th, with visitation at 4:30pm, service at 5pm, and buffet dinner at 6:30pm. For more details, contact Cindy at bevhagen37@gmail.com. There will also be a 10am memorial service on May 6th at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Grenora, ND, followed by interment and lunch.

May 6, 2024 Facebook post from Bev’s granddaughter, Audra Hagen Grunhovd:
“Today was hard. We laid Grandma’s ashes to rest alongside Grandpa’s at the cemetery in Grenora. Over the past few days I’ve spoken to so many people who referred to my special relationship with Grandma and how she talked about me all the time. It really got me reflecting on us, and they’re all correct, our relationship really was special. She wasn’t just my grandma, she was my friend and my person. We enjoyed spending time together and helping each other out; we liked a lot of the same things; she always made me feel exceptional about little things, like making muffins or pies – she’d say things like “3 kids, a husband and a full-time job? I don’t know where you even find the time to make muffins” when we all knew she also had 3 kids, a husband, and a job and she did a heck of a lot more at home than I have ever done; she never told me I needed to lose weight; she was absolutely delighted every time I cut my hair short; she loved my kids unconditionally and adored spending time with them; she pretended to be impressed by any and all of my sewing efforts (definitely NOT my forte); she always had my back and often knew when I needed something even before I did. I hope she knew how much she meant to me, even if I maybe didn’t fully realize it before now. Rest in peace, Grandma. ❤️”
